Bio

"There's None Like"...Saane in the Reggae Industry today. Saane who is of Fijian and Tongan descent was born in Montclair, California. When she was two years old her parents decided to migrate north to the Bay Area where they raised her in the Hills of Milpitas, California. Growing up in the hills, Saane had to use her imagination and tune into her creativity to keep herself entertained. This led to the discovery of her talents.

At the age of 9, Saane wrote her first song, “No, No, No.” Saane in excitement sang this song to her school teacher who encouraged her to sing it for the school talent show. Her performance went great, as many teachers and classmates witnessed that she had no fear in taking on the stage. They were also in disbelief that she had written such a catchy tune. This is when Saane decided that she wanted to be an entertainer.

By the age of 11, it was a trip to a cd store with her sister that also became pivotal in Saane’s life. Saane saw a No Doubt “Tragic Kingdom” cd and bought it. Upon listening to No Doubt, Saane was instantly mesmerized by the ska sounds of the album. Her interest in ska and alternative rock merged into an interest for Reggae as she became a teen. Saane fell in love with Delroy Wilson, Gregory Isaacs, Alton Ellis, Jacob Miller, and of course Bob Marley and many other greats. However, things would take a turn as she came into adulthood.

In Saane’s adolescence the search for identity and purpose became that of a challenge, she began to question her existence and in her plight she went through a spiritual awakening. In a result, Saane began to devote herself mainly to the listening and making of Gospel music. Saane then enrolled herself into bible college in 2008. She attended School Of Urban Missions in Oakland, California where she earned her B.A in Biblical Studies on May, 2011. It was there that Saane proved to be a leader, she was the Residential Assistant and even Student Body President. She was well respected by her peers and was known for her compassion and servanthood.

Saane who had written many songs through her college years decided to publish her writings and record a gospel EP, which was produced through WellsRecord Ent. Finn another accomplished Singer is featured on her song “Single In The Hood.” Saane released her EP on July 2012 under the title “Looney Tune.” Following that accomplishment, Saane tried out for the second season of X Factor. Simon having witnessed her performance said, “You have the most unique voice I have ever heard and I like you because you’re different.”

Despite her short lived X Factor experience, Saane came to realize that music being a universal language should penetrate people beyond just a church audience. It was then that Saane felt that she should make music that could groove the world. She wanted to reach people no matter what race, religion, and culture. Through this epiphany, Saane was instantly drawn to the careers of many great secular artists, one of them being J Boog.

In September of 2012 after a J Boog concert in Sacramento Callifornia, by chance Saane along with her sister and manager Tania met Anu of Washhouse (J Boog’s manager). During this meeting, Saane being eager to learn about the music business was blessed by Anu’s impartation of wisdom and words of advice. This divine encounter with Anu sparked a huge craving in Saane for success. Anu advised Saane to sing to Riddims and it was there that Saane was re-introduced to Reggae like never before. A Reggae revival was ignited in Saane as she re-visited the sounds that she once loved, only this time she would engage herself in making Reggae music rather than just the listening to it.

Saane will be releasing her “I’m Down” EP sometime this year 2013. She has even recently been nominated for Best Solo Gospel Artist for the Fobnation Music Awards. Having not released her new music yet, Saane is still creating a buzz as she shifts gears into a new direction in her music career. She's had the pleasure of being invited to 454 studios and mingling with great successful artists. She even had the opportunity of opening for artists such as ValuFa, Ulise, and even Drew Deezy for his Poly Tape Tour in Salt Lake City. Everyone that has seen Saane perform knows that she is unmatchable in style and full of energy. Its not hard for Saane to stand out, she is ahead of her time, but with Saane’s enthusiasm, love for people, and most unique sound it is undeniable that she will groove the world.
