Biography

Sabrina’s voice has been astounding audiences from childhood on.
Her life changed dramatically in her early teens and she became a runaway, busking on the streets of Victoria and Vancouver, Canada. Frequently attracting dozens of onlookers, who would listen, completely enthralled, as the young girl blew them away with the sheer power of her voice and the intensity of the feelings behind her words. Her songs captivate music lovers of every generation. This undiscovered “…virtuoso vocal talent…” (J.W Myles, City View Magazine) managed to turn the turmoil of her troubled youth into inspiring, emotionally charged lyrics of love, loss, triumph and self discovery. Her music boasts a combination of soaring harmonies and high energy rhythms that can move you to tears and have you dancing in your seat at the same time.

Classically trained at an early age, with a natural “…gift for singing...” (-Rita MacNeil, singer/songwriter) music has always been in her life. Sabrina’s extensive lists of musical accomplishments include winning the Shaw Star Discovery Contest in 2002 and the North Island Talent Hunt Showcase in 2003. She has performed on CBC radio, at the Island Music Festival, Pacific Contact (with award winning singer/songwriter Jeremy Walsh), multiple appearances on the New VI and Speakers Corner, as well as countless other venues and events around British Columbia. In 2002 she founded and produced The Acoustica Festival on Vancouver Island, an event that aims to promote new local talent and create a forum for the unique intimacy of acoustic performances.

Now at the age of 24, this hard-hitting, intensely personal songwriter has become the type of performer that really plays to her audience. Sabrina’s original music blends acoustic rock, folk, roots, and pop with subtle west coast charm. She has performed alongside John Gogo, Laura Love, Jeremy Walsh, Brian Plummer, Jeremy Fisher, Iris, Squish and Carolyn Mark to name a few.

Influenced by a wide variety of artists like Cat Stevens, The Indigo Girls, Janis Joplin, Alanis Morissette, Sarah Mclachlan, and Joni Mitchell her voice and acoustic guitar blend perfectly creating passionate sultry lows and spine tingling angelic heights that are absolutely unforgettable.

Lyrics

Aurora & Me

Written By: Sabrina Kufner

We sit here and watch the fire, we want love to take us higher,
We know what we have to do and we know what we’ve done.
She looks to the sky for answers, I talk to the moon in my prayers,
We take to the trees for shelter, we dance in the sun.

But if we lived in a story then we’d have comfort and glory,
The sky is blue when we want it to we do what we want to Aurora and me..

We talk of a life worth living, we dream of a love worth giving,
We hope we will one day find our true perfect one.
We both wear our hearts on our sleeves and we’ll make it if we believe and
Regardless of if we find it we’ll always have fun.

But if we lived in a story then we’d have comfort and glory,
The sky is blue when we want it to we do what we want to Aurora and me.

We wander into the night and want someone to hold us tight and
Imagine a perfect world where we’d always feel love.
She sits there and holds my hand and I know she understands and
I know she believes my dreams and prays with me to the sky above.

But if we lived in a story then we’d have comfort and glory,
The sky is blue when we want it to we do what we want to Aurora and me.

But if we lived in a story then we’d have comfort and glory,
The sky is blue when we want it to we do what we want to Aurora and me.

I'm Home

Written By: Sabrina Kufner

I’m walking my head is high, my shoulders back, my hips are swaying,
When I feel this way I know there’s just one thing my hears is saying,
And if I listen I can hear the distant laughter and its bringing me home.

I’m walking my smile is wide, my hand is outstretched come and reach me,
I’m feeling intent is pure all senses open come and teach me,
And there’s a scent of summer breeze that’s drifting through the air and leading me home.

Though through the endless struggles of our lives we may feel distraught,
But we learn countless secrets and we share in countless good thoughts,
And if we knew that we were precious just the way we are would we find our way home.

I’m walking I see the sunrise, smell the ocean, feel the cool air,
There’s nothing more naturally familiar in the whole world out there,
Then walking barefoot through the sand to catch the waves, this land is leading me home.

I’m walking I see the pine trees hear the birds and taste the morning,
It’s like when the sun brakes through the clouds and hits you without warning,
And never in my life have I felt so at peace, this walk is leading me home.

Though through the endless struggles of our lives we may feel distraught,
But we learn countless secrets and we share in countless good thoughts,
And if we knew that we were precious just the way we are would we find our way home

I’m walking my heart is pounding, mind is racing, thoughts are drifting,
There’s something ‘bout my home town, the air, the mountains so uplifting,
I thank the universe for placing me here on this earth and leading me home.

I’m soaking up every last drop every ounce of pure sweet freedom,
And if you tread carefully with you my sisters I will share some,
My sky is blue today and there’s no chance of grey,
This journey’s leading me home.

Though through the endless struggles of our lives we may feel distraught,
But we learn countless secrets and we share in countless good thoughts,
And if we knew that we were precious just the way we are would we find our way home.
