Sabrina Stone & The Ers

BandJazzRock

Our jazzy, bluesy rock sound is a combination of 4 minds immersed in music, peppered by endlessly varied tastes & influences. Young 20-something energy, life-long musical dedication, silliness & big hair complete the mix & enable us to sing about much more than just break-ups & schoolwork.

Biography

From painting to doing physics and yoga to watching kung fu movies, our interests are as dispersed as can be. And our music shows it.

However, our music exposes more than just our zest for life; it shows our love for playing.

Chris, Dylan, Phil and I have been making music since we could make sounds. We've been friends individually for a long time, but only near the end of 2006 did we realize what a killer musical combination our joy for hanging out could create.

We've played several shows in NYC in the past few months, at venues like The Bitter End, The Baggot Inn & The Cutting Room.

When we're not playing together, we're making music with our other bands ("Glint" and "The London Souls", among others) or I'm performing solo.

Centered around New York and Boston, we're always up for playing shows anywhere in the Northeast.

We hope you enjoy our sound!

About You

Written By: Sabrina Stone

I can write songs about picnics and parties and lipstick and rips in my tights
I can write songs about babies in arms and the reasons we all choose to fight.

I don't have to write songs about you.

I can write songs about roommates and blacklights and due dates and what's on tv
I can write songs about boys with two moms and the loss of our democracy.

I don't have to write songs about you.

I can write 'bout the world as it turns and my mind as it yearns for some answers.
I can write 'bout the ice as it melts and the people who help and the rest of us just standing by.
I can write 'bout the war that we don't talk about, the lives that we can live without, the fear I have of getting involved.

I don't have to write songs about you.

I Don't Want To Want You

Written By: Sabrina Stone

I don't want to want you
so I want you even more
I'd ask you to leave me
but I'd stop you at the door
I don't want to kiss you
but my lips are drawn to yours
I don't want to miss you

go away, but not so far that I can't touch your cheek
go away, but not so far that I can't feel your breath when you speak
if there's a way for you to stay
tell me

I don't want to need you
but I feel you on my skin
I don't want to feed this
but it's clear I'm growing thin
I don't want to lose you
but I fear that I can't win
I don't want to use you

go away, but not so far that I can't touch your cheek
go away, but not so far that I can't feel your breath when you speak
if there's a way for you to stay
tell me

Tell me
What do you want? What do you need?
What do you expect of me?
Tell me
What do you crave? What do you see?
What is it that we could be
Tell me, what should i do when it comes to you?

I don't want to want you.
I don't want to want you.
I don't want to want you.

I'm Taking Hold of Me

Written By: Sabrina Stone

Can't get around it anymore.
It's my responsibility.
I might be more than I can handle.
But I'm taking hold of me.

It's my body.
It's my conscience.
It's my life that's on the line.
They're my problems.
They're my triumphs.
They're all mine.

Can't get around it anymore.
It's time to show that I can lead.
I might be more than I can handle.
But I'm taking hold of me.

I'll take all the quirks & the weird stuff.
And everything else in its stride.
Accept all the good & the bad stuff.
And show I've got nothing to hide.

Can't get around it anymore.
It's time to show that I can lead.
I might be more than I can handle.
But I'm taking hold of me.

It's my body.
It's my conscience.
It's my life that's on the line.
They're my problems.
They're my triumphs.
They're all mine.

Can't get around it anymore.
It's my responsibility.
I might be more than I can handle.
But I'm taking hold of me.

Good Enough

Written By: Sabrina Stone

Good enough is good enough for someone.
Good enough is good enough for now.
So I count on the season,
the rhyme and the reason,
the words on the tip of your tongue.
No I can't stand the teasin',
the beggin', the pleasin',
the wondering when it's all done.

Good enough is good enough for someone.
Good enough is good enough for her.
You don't know what she's thinking.
Her world's ever-sinking.
She needs you to throw her a line.
She is brave but she's scared
and so under-prepared.
If you ask her, she'll say she's "just fine."

Good enough is good enough for someone.
Good enough is good enough for him.
'Cause he's dancing and singing
And girl, what you're bringing
is pulling him out of his funk.
He's wants someone to touch.
It's not asking too much.
And you're both unbelievably drunk.

So, Good enough is good enough for someone.
Good enough is good enough for them.
They're both missing a part and just waiting to start.
But they need one another to know.
They're both deep and complex
but if they give it a rest,
they can finally let themselves go.

Good enough is good enough for someone.
Good enough is good enough for now.
