"STL Scene Showcase to Feature Top Local Acts"

Sac Lunch is one of the most dynamic live bands in town and part of a growing new school of live Hip Hop acts. The front line consists of MCs Wattson, A-bex, and Alexander. Their styles are fast, fluid, and extremely musical. Their musicality is demonstrated by the fact that both MCs Wattson and Alexander also play horns in the group. The backline of the group, comprised of guitar, bass, and drums, is as equally talented on their instruments as the frontline are with their flows. They play mostly a mix of funk and rock and can be as equally funky as hard rocking when they choose. Sac Lunch is well respected for their live shows which incorporate a lot of live improvisation. - www.stlscene.com

"STL's Dirtiest (2005)"

9) Sac Lunch, Sac Lunch EP (www.saclunch.com). The rapsters meet the funksters in Sac Lunch, essentially a six-piece band with Watt$on and A-Bex taking turns on the mic. The group's only been around for a couple years, and most of its members are under 25. But their experiment shows a lot of promise, especially on the tracks that stick tighter to hip-hop and steer further away from the patchouli-smelling funk. P.S. -- until further notice, you can catch Sac Lunch every Friday at Velvet.

"The Proof is in the Pudding"

- "...Sac Lunch serves up a sound that is good for you, and they make it taste good, too..."

- “...The real prowess of Sac Lunch is musical; each member handles his instrument with a dexterity that is almost alarming, considering their age, and with a cohesiveness that makes the band sound like they've been together far longer than they have...”

Bio

Anyone can perform a rap show with an instrumental CD and a microphone. Anyone can produce a tight beat on an MPC or the latest pirated copy of Reason. In Sac Lunch the production credit goes to the six-piece live instrumentation that draws from jazz, rock, soul, and funk influences to generate a sound diverse and yet still rooted in head-nodding hip-hop. Songs sometimes feverishly intense, sometimes jazzy, sometimes cool and soulful, Sac Lunch caters to more than just fans of hip-hop, and in truth brings a little something for everyone to enjoy. Influences range from the Roots to Rage, Jimmy Cliff to John Coltrane.
