"Sad Brad Smith Cheers Up, Talks New Album"

"Songs like “Get Together” and “Shooting Star” adeptly combine heart-rending sadness with pithy, self-deprecating humor, all set to simple, but engaging, music." - The Chicagoist

"Sad Brad Smith"

"The winning trick, of course, is that he digs into the depths while keeping a buoyant melody and a sly twist of humor close at hand." - Red Alert

"Fresh Squeezed: Sad Brad Smith"

". . . it should be this album that helps him make a name for himself" - Orange Alert Blog

"'Juno' director Jason Reitman's latest, 'Up in the Air': Hear his hand-picked soundtrack star here"

"If he’s writing cool songs for A-list movies, why is Sad Brad still sad?" - Entertainment Weekly

"'Up in the Air': One of the year's best use of an original song in a film"

"The song, "Help Yourself," arrives as Clooney's Ryan Bingham is making an emotional transition, and rolls along with a Simon & Garfunkel tenderness. It should be a shoo-in for an original song Oscar nomination -- if eligible, of course -- framing a pivotal moment in the film with warmth, as well as an irresistible melody." - Los Angeles Times

"Album Review"

"The resulting sound is an instant classic. Love Is Not What You Need is both sardonic and genuine— a gem of an album that will have you chuckling one minute and sighing wistfully the next." - Flagpole Magazine

"Album Review"

"He has that near universal appeal while keeping the audience at bay with his mixture of humor, heartache, and romance."

". . . pure and genuine . . ." - The Deli Magazine
