Sad Girl
Twenty Years
Genre: Rock
by: Sue G.

Their name may be strange but their music certainly isnt! Right from their first track Twenty Years (by far my favorite track on the album) I was hooked like a junkie. Their sound reminds me of the modern day Doors with their variety of instruments, including keyboards and a guitar solo that sounded like it was put through a hairdryer on acid. This mix keeps their music interesting, while Tommys captivating voice is sure to hold your attention. The two components flow together so well that they lure your soul right along with it. Its been a long time since a band came around like that. This is not some cardboard cutout shit you hear all over the radio these days. Although the songs went on a little long for what they are, the sound isnt that hard to take. The originality of their sound will keep this band around for a whileand their fans right along with them. - Getunderground.com aug.'06

Twenty Years
Featured Download: Bethlehem MP3

Dont be confused by the smart, descriptive lyrics. Sad Girl is definitely rock youll want to turn up. But pay attentionyou wont want to miss a word. Case in point: the stellar Twenty Years. Broken lights, Mayan gods and Israelites all make an appearance, and lead vocalist Tommy Swerdlow paints vivid pictures with his slightly distored, half-mumbled vocals: An Asian man with seven grand is talking to a blonde / Shes dressed in bad intentions, got issues with the law. The song clocks in at over six minutes and closes with some Native American chanting. Youre one track into the album, and youve already been on a heck of a ride.
The rest of the album follows suit. Songs are long, many over the five-minute mark, but you wont want them to end. Sad Girl combines the narrative power of Bob Dylan with the Doors dreamy psychedelia, and the results are spectacular. - PERFORMING SONGWRITER

Bio

Twenty Years, the debut album from Sad Girl is the product of nearly a decade and a half collaboration between Tommy and Karen Swerdlow. The Swerdlow’s have a studio in North Hollywood where Karen developed her sound and producing skills acquiring lots of vintage gear and a
style all her own as Tommy wrote screenplays and created television shows to pay the bills.
Among his screenwriting credits are Cool Runnings and Snow Dogs both for Walt
Disney. Twenty Years may sound like a funky strain of rock and roll and heightened language, but at it’s core it is the folk music of a fifteen year
creative and emotional bond.......
