"Bang! It goes somewhere else. I like it!"

Just when I think I know where it's going and ok I heard it before... Bang! It goes somewhere else. I like it! - Fan

"Then we have a treat from Ottawa, Sad Guru."

Then we have a treat from Ottawa, Sad Guru. Playing Toronto makes Sad Guru happy. From the mouth of Sad Guru themselves, "I never got why every band needs to do a certain style of music. I listen to all types of music, so I play all types of music." Damn good point! It's alternately groovin and funky then drop of the dime folky back to the rockin' again. Sad Guru is making headway in Ottawa and working on a debut release. Come check them out!

Bio

Sad Guru

Reborn in Canada on the winter solstice of 2010, Sad Guru has levelled-up a few times in its first year. Now at level 7, they're ready for 2012, the year of the Guru…Their mission: to lift up the soul, move the spirit and encourage the mind to grow and think differently. Sad Guru wants to be the change in these volatile times… Really, all they want is to play GOOD original MUSIC for PEOPLE to hear and have a GOOD time... Maybe quote a few guys like Ghandi along the way. We can change the world!!!

Thanks to the LOVE of MUSIC and the WORLD interweb the trinity is complete and now… Sad Guru is here! It goes down like this: Jess keeps the beat, more like feels it. Who knows where it comes from? Just a NATURAL! Chris lays down the low bass intricacies and vocals. Dan plays guitar with classical and jazz temperaments and occasionally sings. Together, they are Sad Guru. Equipped with a collection of over 20 original songs and the odd eclectic cover or happy birthday song; they have performed 30 something live shows in their first year of existence, trekking from Montreal to Burlington. Including a successful mini-tour of Ontario.

Other noteworthy accomplishments include live performances at the award winning Black sheep Inn in Wakefield, QC and the reknowned Lee's Palace, in Toronto, ON. Sad Guru rocked a couple festivals too, including Music in the Pines (Ingleside, ON.) and the first ever Montreal Privateer Festival, a pirate theme festival.

They like festivals; freedom and trees, lava lamps and dream pillows, hot and cold beverages, STEAM HIPPIE?, documentaries and books.

Sad Guru's melting pot of jazz, funk, surf, prog, STEAM HIPPIE?, and alternative rock can get any audience moving; yet appeal to the more selective MUSIC lover. They've played along side such diverse acts like bluegrass/rockabilly magnificent 7's (Calgary), the environmentally and socially conscious Steve Canadian (Ottawa) and hard rockers Seven Year Riot (Windsor) winning over fans every time.

Currently, they're recording 2 new songs with The Audio Recording Academy in Ottawa, ON. You can count on Sad Guru to keep releasing new music and always have it available for FREE DOWNLOAD on their website: www.sadgururocks.com. Give it a spin! Songs like Pushing and Wake Up have been featured on Live 88.5 FM and numerous pod casts such as the Vents Magazine Pod Cast with over 200 000 listeners and The Bull Pit Occupy Wall Street pod cast.
