SAHARA SUNRISE

''Sahara Sunrise'' is a Canadian Folk-Rock-Alternatif band composed of Sebastien Baril (singer, acoustic guitar, harmonicas and song-writer),Alexandre Defoy (drums, percs and song-writer), Mathieu Denis (bass guitar and song-writer) et Jean-Sébastien Defoy (electric guitar and song-writer). Sahara Sunrise was founded in 2005 by Sebastien and Pierre-Alexandre when they met each other, returning from a trip in central America.

Some weeks later, the group signed up just in time to take part in a music contest. However, their candidature was rejected because the band list was already full. Fortunately, the contest organizers took down their name and promised to call them back if any group cancelled… which is exactly what happened. Sahara Sunrise went through to the first round, the second round and the final round. Sahara Sunrise’s very first 3 shows were performed during that contest. Later on, the band appeared on television and, thanks to their song : « Is the clock set right ? », in the summer of 2007 was named « The best 2007 summer rhythm » by the radio station Rhythm Fm. The band signed their first record contract with the producer
Mario Gagnon of Trafik Musik in December 2007 and began recording their first album in Montreal in early January 2008. The album contains 14 original songs will be released in August 2008.
