Bio

Red and White! One colour combination that is not only understood and appreciated by chips gourmets. Red and White are also the Colours of Saint Pauli. The electro rock *n*roll duo consists of two exile schwabs Maximilian Olowinsky and Ralf Birkel which have successfully combined their love for music and Hamburg. After both vigorously thrilled the black Forest with miscellaneous Bands and projects they established the Surf band K-Billies Hitparade and crowned their short but heavy career bracket with a short tour through the south of France. Always in search of a life after the rehearsal room, both separately started to play around with little electronical sets and where pleased and surprised about the output. Around the turn of the millenium Max followed Ralf to Hamburg were both established their new band Saint Pauli. Their studio, right in the heart of the redlight district of Sankt Pauli, transformed itself from a computer workplace to a fully equipped rehearsal room with drums, Rhodes, guitars and diverse amps, so a kind of music could be produced that differed from that of the so called laptop nerds. After several years of making tracks in their studio, they got the idea to play and perform live on stage as the result of a spontaneous booking. Without laptops, monitors nor mice but with several shakers, synths, rustles and an MPC these guys have been on the road for the past 3 years. After several compilation supports, which brought these guys as far as onto Japanese record players, their first own EP (SOUTH EP) appeared on the Hamburg label Hidden Tape in the early summer of 2005 with three bass vibrating electro rocknroll tracks which now travel around the world in many DJ bags. Their music is even represented on Cinema screens. In the Oskar Röhler film based on the bestselling book Elementarteilchen (Elementary particles) of Michael Houllebeque (Constantin Film) for instance, with Moritz Bleibtreu, Martina Gedeck and Franka Potente, where their track Storm bashed through the swinger club.
