"New Indian Acoustic Movement"

Contemporary folk-pop music conjures names such as Devendra Banhart, Sufjian Stevens and Damien Rice.
But fans besotted with the multitude of musicians and bands sprouting iu in the West should look closer to home when discovering new music.
New Delhi based singer-songwriter Sajid Akbar is one such name to look out for.
The debut record "Kid without Candy" offers emotionally-wrought rhapsodies full of reflection and real life drama. They have even received acclaim from the Indian pres, which tout them as part of the new Indian acoustic movement.
While the reverberating flute solo on Pray for Rain is, perhaps he only clue of Akbar's Indian origins, Kid without Candy is a bold step forward in putting Asian talent on the folk music map.

The album received 4 stars on 5 and was the "Spin of the Week" - My Paper, Singapore

Bio

From the buzz of contemporary India comes the voice of a new urban generation from one of the worlds oldest cultures.
Hailing from New Delhi India, Sajid and the Lost Boys are an ambient/folk outfit that soothe the gap between the frantic modernity of emerging India and her passionate people, through their gentle melodic whispers.
Best described as a cross between Kings of Convenience and Duncan Sheik, Sajid and the Lost Boys combine the soulful melodies of rainy afternoons with a raw honesty to reflect the emotional stirrings of the everyday man caught in the rush of time.
