"'Hardworking blue/white collar rock ’n’ roll'"

"Local boys and Hasslefest alum Salem Wolves started the show with some hardworking blue/white collar rock ’n’ roll led by frontman Gray Bouchard. They effortlessly blew through 11 songs in under 30 minutes, playing songs from their new album Shake." - Boston Hassle

""Sheer intensity...""

"The quartet from Boston recently released a 9-song record full of sheer intensity, fiery guitars and riveting words. ... Salem Wolves is a mature product; a consolidated band with a clear picture of what to do and where to be." - Boston Hassle

""Arena ready garage anthems""

"Shake is filled with arena ready garage anthems. The opener, "Cindi," is this burst of full force rock aggression but it still keeps an insane amount of melody and it's catchy as hell. "Centipede" almost has a psychedelic feel to it. Almost. "Die Like Dogs" is the closest to a classic Salem Wolves song, and is a fast out of control anthem. Plus, it has "die" in the title. "BDF" might be the song that ends up in commercials some day, and I mean that in the best possible way." - If It's Too Loud

""A sonic firecracker""

"...a sonic firecracker that slashes out of the speakers and pierces your beaten-down soul." - Vanyaland

""The spirit of rock ‘n’ roll""

"The Salem-based group creates raucous tunes that embody the spirit of rock ‘n’ roll: chugging guitar lines, wailing vocal riffs, and an indomitable crash cymbal that keeps time. ... Their single “From The Vault” channels the gritty spirit of rock legends past — singer Gray Bouchard’s throaty vocals crack at the edges and descend into maniacal laughter at certain points in the song. ... Reminiscent of Highly Suspect, the instrumentation is a key player in the music Salem Wolves produces. It toes the line of too much distortion, balancing the scuzzy guitar and bass from Dan McMahon and Harrison Swyter with crisp, breakneck drums that propel the song through its narrative. Like in “Can’t Wait,” which takes note of its title and begins with a subdued vocal track under tinny, thinly strummed guitar before bursting open at the striking up of the drums. There’s something urgent about the chorus of “ahhs” that backs Bouchard’s vocals that makes for a greater catharsis once the bridge hits." - Allston Pudding

""Howling at the door of success...""

"Since forming in 2014, Salem Wolves have notched impressive local successes. Last December, Converse Rubber Tracks studio invited the band to record singles “Peach” and “Shameless.” In the spring, the group became a semifinalist at the Rock & Roll Rumble and played the Boston Calling Block Party. This fall, they got a nod for new artist of the year at the Boston Music Awards." - Boston Herald

Bio

Since 2015, Boston's own Salem Wolves has whipped up an unholy ruckus with their brand of swaggering, tuneful witch rock, landing them on local and national "Best Of" lists, garnering award nominations and critical praise from publications like the Boston HeraldVanyaland, Allston PuddingIMPOSE magazine and more. The band was a semifinalist at the 2016 Rock & Roll Rumble before being selected to perform at 2016's Boston Calling Block Party.

2018 saw the release of Salem Wolves' sophomore LP, Shake, an acclaimed mix of darkness-infused garage rock, punk, and glam, produced by the Grammy nominated musician Chris Johnson (Deafheaven). The title track was quickly nominated for Song of the Year in the 2018 Boston Music Awards, while the band itself was nominated for Rock Artist of the Year.

Shake follows the acclaimed 2017 debut LP Tooth & Nail, recorded at the world-famous Converse Rubber Tracks. Produced by Dave Minehan (The Replacements, The Neighborhoods), the album featured singles "From the Vault," "Shameless," "More Weight!" and "Peach."

The band features the vocals and guitar of Gray Bouchard, drums by Eliahu Sussman, and bass by Cat Verlicco.

Garnering comparisons to Titus Andronicus and The Thermals, they've toured relentlessly and shared the stage with acts like JEFF the Brotherhood, King Khan and the Shrines, SupersuckersCrocodiles, Diarrhea Planet, All Them Witches, The Sonics, Roky Erickson, July Talk, Death Valley Girls, L.A. Witch, and more.
