Shanty Town

Shanty Town

"The Highlight of In The City & One of The Best Unsigned Acts from Manchester" Manchester Evening News "The band have the best frontman I've seen; every time I see them play they just get better. I'm waiting for someone to knock them off their top spot, but I doubt it will happen" City Life

Formed in 2007 Shanty Town comprises four good mates who just wanted to write and perform their own songs, influenced by their home town, Salford, life and the people around them.

Their sound has been described as “Fast, furious, slightly punky, part-indie, difficult to pigeonhole but impossible to dislike.”

The band began rehearsing in a broken down shop, playing their first gig six months later at the Music Box, Manchester - they went down a storm and have been on a role ever since.
Shanty Town try to keep a raw energy on stage and aren’t satisfied til they've worked the crowd into a frenzy.
Last year they played at the official In the City, Fringe events. Despite setting foot on stage on a Monday night, they were still picked up by Manchester Evening News reporter Katie Storey, describing them as:
“The highlight of In the City” and “One of the best unsigned bands to emerge from Manchester.”

In the last year, the band’s been busy writing new material and performing at venues such as Manchester Academy, Liverpool Carling Academy, The Roadhouse and many more throughout the UK; building their fan base and reputation for putting on a fantastic show.
They’ve supported artists such as Neville Staples, Twisted Wheel, The Beat and the Aeroplanes to name a few.

Much more could be written trying to describe Shanty Town, their music and what they’re about. But when you get down to it, Shanty Town are a band comprising four mates who are exceptionally talented, having a laugh and doing what they enjoy - playing their music live and giving the audience a great night.

If you like what they do, nice one! Get on it and let the good times roll! If you don't, no problem…You'll see the light soon enough!
