Bio

Soft spoken and unassuming, but when the music comes on all of this changes. It is where Sally Elwin is in full flight, with the voice of a nightingale. Over the years she has been gracing the stages of some of the best resorts and festivals on her island home Saint Lucia, as well as regional and international stages.
Sally Elwin’s vocals can be described as both lilting and poignant, as exemplified by her recordings, but more so during her “live” performances which she has been doing since the 90’s until now.
She began singing professionally at the age of 19 and has never looked back, teaming up with KK Elwin to form the band Fantasy in 1996. That same year, they became the resident band for the Rendezvous Hotel until 2006. The former entertainment manager of the resort described them as “simply the best” with a repertoire that was “well researched and presented.” With Sally on lead vocals, Sally & KK, continued to work as a duo, making a name for themselves along the hotel circuit on the island and at various stage shows.
In 2004 Sally Elwin released her first recording with a five track CD entitled “Sally.”
And so began her journey into the hearts and minds of a wider audience and fan base, as she delivered songs like “You are the One,” with accompanying music videos that captivated audiences at home and abroad. That same year, Sally landed herself a performance at the Saint Lucia Jazz Festival, ranked at the time as one of the best Jazz Festivals in the world. She performed at the Derek Walcott Square, unleashing her magical musical prowess on her audience with her young fan base singing along with her.
In 2006 came the CD “Crazy for You” which included the songs “Crazy For You”, “Free Up Yourself”, “Stormy Weather”, “Ooh Baby” and “I’ll Be Okay’. That same year, Sally and KK opened up for US Rhythm and Blues greats The Manhattans at the Pigeon Island National Park. Their show-stopping performance was well received, as they set the pace for the headline act.
Since then, Sally and KK have been performing locally at the Saint Lucia Jazz festival and other events, most recently in 2016 at Vieux Fort Jazz, in the south of the island. They have also landed a number of gigs regionally and internationally too.
In terms of recognition that went beyond accumulating a fan base - in 1992 KK won the Belgrave Award for Best producer, and in 1996 Sally and KK won the Radio Saint Lucia Best Christmas Song Competition, with a song titled “Bring Joy to the World.” In 1999 Sally entered the Caribbean Song festival in Cuba and was adjudged 1st runner up with the song “Viva Cuba!” coming up against nine other competitors. And in 2001, Sally and KK won the best music group at the St. Lucia Hotel and Tourism Association’s Ste Lisi Par Excellence Awards.
Her latest musical offering is “Hallelujah” released in February 2018 and produced by KK Elwin. The song is a contemporary inspirational number and a remake of the Leonard Cohen’s melancholic and enigmatic song, with a solid production to match the grace of Sally’s vocals.
And there is more music to come from Sally, who says that she is just simply going with the flow, giving the best of herself to her fans and listeners for as long as she has the breath of life and the gift of music!
