""Another TIme, Another Place""

"What a wonderful change of pace to hear someone taking on such a varied program and make it all work. Sally has a lovely soprano voice that can also be stirring and project strength." - Talkin' Broadway

"Another Time, Another Place"

"The singing, playing, phrasing and arranging are smart, sophisticated and delightful." - Jon Kalbfleisch, Music Director, Signature Theatre, Arlington, VA

""Parisian Valentine" at the Corner Store"

"Martin is an elegant singer, yet she performs with an ease and comfort that makes her audience part of her romance. While much of the material she sang was in French, she did a great job of reaching her audience with the core story and emotion of the material, even in another language."

"Martin’s work was supported by the superb music direction of James Fitzpatrick who managed to find the right mood for the show, filtering disparate material into a cohesive whole." - Michael Miyazaki for Cabaret Scenes Magazine,

"CD Release concert, Corcoran Gallery of Art, Washington DC"

Sally Martin has got it all! ... a sultry voice, equally at home in both English and French and elegantly sexy looks and manner. What more can you ask for? At a special CD release concert two nights ago at the Corcoran, marking her third appearance, Martin mesmerized fans along with the backup of her musical director and pianist, James R. Fitzpatrick and Deborah Brudvig on cello. Her second CD is entitled, “Another Time, Another Place” and Fitzpatrick wrote the title song. ..As author Judith Viorst said on the CD’s liner notes, “It’s composed of dreams and memories, of loves lived, lost and longed for.” D.C. is Sally Martin country. It’s time we let the rest of the country in on what we have! - Rich Massabny, Arlington Weekly News TV

""Another Time, Another Place", CD Review by NPR"

"Sally Martin's new CD, "Another Time, Another Place" is a charming recital of familiar and not so familiar songs from the popular and Broadway literature, a couple in French. Her clear voice and unerring pitch, tastefully supported by piano and cello, match the melodies with clear understanding of the lyrics. Neither cabaret nor theatrical, her approach makes these art songs."

- Art Hilgart, Broadway Revisited on National Public Radio

"NY review at "Don't Tell Mama's"

"Her appearance and presence are as lovely as her legit/classical voice is beautiful. Her rendition of Stephen Schwartz's "Chanson" is especially fine, and she does a dramatically effective interpretation of "Rapunzel" by Shelly Markham and Judith Viorst. " - Roy Sander, Backstage

"CD review "Journeys""

“On her extraordinary first CD "Journeys" Washington cabaret singer Sally Martin invites comparison with Edith Piaf and Marlene Dietrich --- a risky ploy but one from which she emerges unscathed with interpretations that are distinctly her own…" - Joseph McLellan, The Washington Post

"InSeries, "To Paris with Love""

"A cosmopolitan singer with a strong talent for cabaret...recalls such great stylists of the '30s as Lotte Lenya and Marlene Dietrich in the way she inflects a phrase to bring out subtle emotion in such numbers as "The Barbara Song" or "Falling in Love Again." - Joseph McLellan, The Washington Post

""Jacques Brel is Alive and Well" Everyman Theatre, Baltimore"

“Miss Martin is superb in some of the show’s most touching numbers” - Curtain Up

"Danny's Skylight Room, NYC"

“ An instantly likeable presence, sort of a sophisticated pixie. She clearly has a firm grip on her conception of a song.” - (John Michael Koroly, WVOX, New York

Bio

Sally Martin's latest album,"Another Time, Another Place" was nominated Best Jazz Recording of the Year by the Washington Area Music Association. Several songs from that album have aired on famed radio broadcast "The Midnight Special" on Chicago's WFMT, which invited her to give an hour's live concert on WFMT's nationally syndicated show "Folkstage" in December 2008. The Washington Post hailed her first CD, "Journeys" as 'extraordinary” and called her “wonderfully controlled singing… both dreamy and wise.”

"Sally Martin has got it all! a sultry voice, equally at home in both English and French and elegantly sexy looks and manner. What more can you ask for? D.C. is Sally Martin country. It’s time we let the rest of the country in on what we have!"
