Sal releases new album ‘The Error Plot’
After two years of creation, preparation and improvement, Sal Oiveira releases this semester his most personal and authorial project: The Error Plot. The first solo album of late Phone Trio’s vocalist translates the deepest emotions of a hopeless romantic into pure and simple songs that don’t fall into the trap of triviality or tackiness. The lyrics come to life with the help of sticky melodies that are directly connected to folk music, mixing influences that go from Bob Dylan to Jack Johnson, including Ben Kweller, Johnny Cash and Noel Gallagher.
The personal and intimate atmosphere is also present on the album’s title, taken from a dream Sal had around 2007. At that moment the musician realized that was going to be the name of his first solo album, no matter when it would be released. Sal is a true believer in the power of the idyllic experiences to stimulate and reveal ideas and concepts that are kept inside our subconscious. “This album was written in my house, between moments of raw emotion and honesty. I thought it was vital that my best friend, the cat Thomas Edison, was on the album cover, to increase this organic and intimate atmosphere that involves The Error Plot”, explains Sal, a cat lover.
“The Error Plot” was produced by Patrick Laplan, name behind productions like R.Sigma’s “Reflita-se” and Banda Planar’s “Invasion”. Besides producing, Patrick joined Sal to record all the instrumental parts of the ten tracks. On stage, for the intimate concerts, the band is formed by Sal on the vocals, guitar and ukulele, Patrick on the drums, Melvin Ribeiro on the bass and Fel Fortes playing the electric guitar.
