Bio

Back in 2005, Julie Ryan and Ray Agueros joined forces to begin writing music together, as a creative outlet. But it didn’t take long for them to realize that their writing chemistry was truly something special. It was soon after that they forme the band as a way to promote their music, and to fulfill Julie's love of performing. And so Salt Creek was born. Little did they all know how amazing the journey would be. It's hard to categorize Salt Creek into one genre. They're mixture of Country, Rock, and Blues gives them a sound that is truly their own, and sets them apart. Salt Creek's thoughtfully written music drives, is filled with passion and emotion, and truly speaks for itself. From ballads to songs that rock, once you hear them, you won't be able to get them out of your head. Salt Creek has successfully performed at numerous Festivals, Fairs, Community events, Clubs, and Private and Corporate Parties all over Southern California.

Julie – Lead Vocals
Born and raised in Southern California, Julie discovered at a very young age that she had a passion for music, singing, and performing. She has always had a love for country & rock music, and credits her father, Robert, for her natural talent. Julie’s musical influences have been Wynonna, Leann Rimes, The Dixie Chicks, Bonnie Raitt, Melissa Etheridge, Nathalie Merchant, The Eagles, and James Taylor to name a few. Although it was not until she was an adult that Julie finally had the opportunity to share her voice with larger audiences, she was happy at any chance to perform. Julie founded “Salt Creek” along with her songwriting partner and bassist Ray. The band’s country/southern/rock sound mixes well with her vocal range, and Julie’s passion for songwriting is evident in the bands original music that is co-written by her.

Ray – Bass
Ray, who is from Victorville, California, has countless years of experience playing bass. He has always loved the drive and powerful impact that the bass adds to a song. And of all the instruments he plays, Ray feels the bass is closest to his musical soul and allows him the most personal expression. His main gear is an OLP 5 string, a Schecter C4, an Ernie Ball S.U.B. 4 string Musicman, Carvin R1000 Head, Ampeg SVT15 and SVT410HE cabinets alternating with a Gallien Kruger 2x10 cabinet. Not content just playing within "the box", Ray is known for being an extremely motivated musician, who loves to challenge himself and push to the next level. In addition to bass, Ray enjoys playing acoustic guitar (especially for songwriting), keyboard, drums, saxophone, and even the violin when time allows. A Senior Computer Tech Analyst by day, Ray co-founded Salt Creek, and co-writes all of their original music along with Julie.

Jim – Rhythm Guitar
A native Californian born in Orange County, Jim has been playing guitar since he was 13 years old, with musical influences ranging from Rock, Blues, Country, Classical, Heavy Metal and Jazz. His main musical influences are Tony Iommi, Randy Rhoades, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Mark Knopfler, Doyle Dykes and Eric Johnson. Jim has continued to further his music education through lessons and clinics given by various artists while implementing new techniques to the bands repertoire. Jim has furthered his passion for music by taking it to the next level through experimental building of electric guitars as a beginning luthier. Jim prefers classic amplifier tone and uses Fender and Peavey tube amps. Jim plays both electric and acoustic guitars and has been with the band since its inception.

Jan – Lead Guitar
Born in Manchester, England, Jan began playing guitar at age 6, and was reading music by age 8. Classically trained until he was 22 years old, Jan is adept in all styles of music ranging from classical to rock. Jan’s experience includes playing and recording with various bands since the age of 15, including Godspell. In addition he has supported Bob Geldoff, played in the 101 guitars production in London, England, and is a qualified music teacher who has taught guitar to advanced levels for the past ten years. Jan’s musical influences include Pink Floyd, The Beatles, and Led Zeppelin. Jan uses a Marshall JCM 900 combo amp, and a Michael Kelly Hybrid Special guitar.
