Bio

Salute began in the Spring of 2006 through a mutual love of Rock and Roll. After writing and recording a demo they started gigging around the Dallas area regularly. Salute then were introduced to now producer/manager John Kent (President of Blackland Records and Blackland Management, former drummer of major label recording artist Radish, Ben Kweller, and the Lemonheads) by manager Clint Scribner (Blackland Management) in January of 2007 as Salute was planning to record an EP. Fortunately, Salute was took an offer to play a show at Lake Forest College w/ Tom Morello who was touring with his solo alias of the Nightwatchman. It could not have come at a better time because it ended up paying for the EP Salute recorded with John Kent during the Spring of 2007. Again they gigged constantly throughout Dallas and also in Austin, Corpus Christi, Galveston, and Houston supporting the release of their first EP. Then at the end of 2007 founding drummer Mark Owens mutually agreed to leave the band and John Kent offered to be a temporary drummer for the band until they could find a replacement. Currently, Salute continues to play shows locally in Dallas and also throughout the vast but great state of Texas staying true to the original concept of Rock and Roll: A fresh, vibing, driving force that takes chances and, out of integrity, will turn against the mainstream in order to achieve a sense of pride, originality, but broad impact. We are influenced and inspired by anyone who has proved to be this no matter what era they came from because it can still be found today...
SALUTE!
