“ Baby Love” from singer-songwriter and producer Sam McLeod is a hauntingly beautiful homage to love, perseverance, and new beginnings all wrapped up in an impressive sonic package that will melt your heart and keep your ears locked in.
The sound is, in a word, ethereal. The clean guitars and vocals, both courtesy of McLeod, are awash in a stream of reverb to great effect. Add in the subtle but tightly played percussion by Garrett P Tyler along with the fluid low end brought out by bassist Travis Ward Law and it creates a feeling of lightness. Almost as if floating, this kind of emotional buoyancy compliments the subject matter perfectly.
This same kind of ethereal, spiritual like vibe reminds me of U2’s “The Joshua Tree” actually. McLeod's song is incredibly emotive and celebratory in nature. It is both pensive and powerful, intimate and transcending. It’s not surprising that the inspiration was taken from the birth of McLeod’s daughter. His lead vocals are beautifully performed as his tenor voice, clear and controlled, blooms with love and expression as he sings,
Musically speaking, McLeod takes risks and colors outside the lines using an interesting take on a folk song structure which is in essence, a series of repeating verses typically. “Baby Love” however, diverges from this traditional model, incorporating instead various refrains as well as a bridge section. This keeps the song engaging and drives it forward.
In short, “Baby Love” is a soothing balm to listeners ears. It captures something spiritual, full of life and love. Written, performed and produced by a songwriter who knows how to capture and contain delicate yet intense emotions, McLeod's song is an ethereal gift. - Please Pass the Indie
A Nashville native, Sam McLeod has been singing since he was a little boy in a small town called Smyrna, TN. He spent a lot of his childhood covering Radiohead songs and writing sappy love songs. As a singer-songwriter, he has a well-developed alto tenor range and a unique melodic style in songwriting.
He released his debut EP “Introduction to Dreaming” (an alternative-rock project) in 2015 – a collection of songs written about his childhood and the growing pains of life. Sam then lived overseas in Melbourne, Australia for five years – opening for various local artists and leading worship for several church movements/events. Over time, Sam’s style has matured into an indie-folk sound that creates a graceful fusion of influences like Ethan Gruska, Leeland, James Vincent McMorrow, and Jarryd James. It’s wedding season, y’all — and this new tune from Sam McLeod is making the love in the air even more palpable.
The Tennessee native released his latest single, “You, Me & Everything” this past Friday. The arrival of this airy, sweetly-sung love ballad has been a long time coming; McLeod wrote it specifically for a friend’s wedding back in 2015. He then came back around to it, recording and self-producing it into the studio version you’ll hear below.
“It is about living out the dream of marrying a person you’ve loved for a very long time,” McLeod said.
“You, Me & Everything” will be included on McLeod’s forthcoming EP later this year — and he promises that love, indeed, will be its common thread.
“The EP’s vibe is the nostalgia of young love: butterflies, passing notes, playing M.A.S.H., and making mix CD’s for your crush,” McLeod notes.

A Nashville local, Sam McLeod has been singing since he was a young man in an unassuming community called Smyrna, TN. He spent a ton of his youth covering Radiohead tunes and composing sappy love tunes. As a vocalist lyricist, he has an all-around created alto tenor territory and a novel melodic style in songwriting.
He delivered his presentation EP “Prologue to Dreaming” (an option rock project) in 2015 – an assortment of tunes expounded on his adolescence and the developing torments of life. Sam then, at that point lived abroad in Melbourne, Australia for a very long time – opening for different nearby craftsmen and driving love for a few church developments/occasions.
Over the long haul, Sam’s style has developed into an independent society sound that makes an agile combination of impacts like Ethan Gruska, Leeland, James Vincent McMorrow, and Jarryd James. His masterfulness is one that pierces the heart with enchanting verses and charming vocals.
His recent release YouMe&Everything is the second single leading the pack up to Sam’s self-delivered “Perfect partner Mix” EP. The song outlines the anticipation, expectation, disappointment, and reassurance of marriage. “Soulmate Mix” EP is involved music Sam has composed in the course of recent years portraying the blend of his own romantic tale, and the extraordinary point of view he has contrasted and the mistakes of standard impressions of adoration, connections, and “foreordained” perfect partners. The EP’s tasteful acquires from “secondary school romantic tale” charms of passing notes, playing M.A.S.H., or more all making mixtapes. - Motion News

Relax and listen to “Youme&everything” : - The Further
Drawing together the sounds of Bon Iver, Radiohead, Shy Girls and Mikky Ekko, US-based singer-songwriter Sam McLeod is quite genre-defying. With his soothing melodies, heartfelt lyrics and flowing vocals, McLoed is a refreshing breath in a stagnating pop scene. Instead of following the crowd with contemporary music, he stands up as a unique representation of 80s pop in modern-day society. Featured on various playlists and radio stations, including Lightening 100 Radio, McLeod is building a reputation for engaging music. The latest addition to his discography is ‘youme&everything’.
Following his ‘Baby Love’, ‘youme&everything’ is a fusion of dream-pop, post-rock and 80s synth-pop. Similar to the former track where McLeod touches on elements of love, perseverance and new beginnings, ‘youme&everything’ explores the issue of true love with the good and the bad. No relationship is utterly perfect, we all have imperfections and this single showcases how imperfections make love stronger – it’s no longer about the physical and emotional connection, there’s something much deeper between the lovers.
Written as a “wedding gift” for a friend living in Australia, McLeod shares that “…the song outlines the anticipation, expectation, disappointment and reassurance of marriage. I myself have been married for 10 years and have experienced a broad scope of what a loving relationship can endure.” Taking his knowledge and personal experiences adds a tenderness to the soothing song.
While McLeod performed the track live at his friend’s wedding, we are not able to enjoy that acoustic performance. Instead, we have to be content with the recorded version, not that I mind at all. Beautiful in its simplicity, the melodic tune places you in a bubble of warm happiness. It’s not difficult to leave the flowing track with a grin on your face and a heart filled with the joyous expectations of true love. I can easily see (or rather hear) ‘youme&everything’ used as one of those heart-rendering tracks at anniversaries and weddings across the globe.
In addition to his single, Sam McLeod has released an official music video for ‘youme&everything’. A rather enchanting video with transitions from McLeod singing to contemporary pas de deux, the video is a visual representation of a loving relationship. Two bodies moving as one to form the foundation of what true love really is. Unfortunately, the video does feature strobe-like effects and patterns that can trigger seizures in people with photosensitive epilepsy. Viewer discretion is advised. - The Other Side Reviews
You Me & Everything' is a song that has a lot of emotion in it and can bring tears to many people's eyes. Sam McLeod is the performer. The production, from the very date of its release, has elicited nothing but positive vibes from critics, giving extra motivation for an artist who needs it to continue making such great songs and bringing joy to his fans.
'You Me & Everything' stands out for its very listenable voice, which is important for any listener, as it is the element that comes to the fore, practically in every song that is not instrumental.
McLeod himself is a unique artist who has a very formidable skill set that allows him to write/create uncommon productions. I think he is an artist who will soon be noticed by a wider audience and will be able to fully demonstrate his talent, which he certainly has and there is no doubt about that. - Lost in Transmission
