Bio

Since he was a teenager trading underground mixtapes in New York City, Sam Pocker has been a much-valued patron in the music scene. His love and support for live music of all genres has been the foundation on which his entire adult life has been built. Sam’s decision to finally pick up the dusty guitar that had been sitting in the corner of his bedroom since 1995 was an inevitable move, although those who know him best wondered what took so long.

Determined to wring out a story from its strings, a decision to either learn how to play or donate the guitar is the likely catalyst for the formation of LA-based Sam Pocker And The Pretty Colors. Influences such as REM, The Feelies, Girls, The Clean, Teenage Fanclub and The B-52’s paved the way for the lighthearted and down-to-earth jangle pop sounds that are embellished within their music.

Self-proclaimed to sound like “neurotic happiness,” Sam Pocker And The Pretty Colors sing about the days before social media consumed our lives. Long summer nights, the intoxicating smell of caramel popcorn at the local drive-thru, and the thrill of love are just some of the themes they paint with their music.

While a relative newcomer, Sam Pocker And The Pretty Colors have been writing songs for about two years. They have released their debut single entitled “Weekends With You,” produced by Michael Eisenstein (Letters to Cleo, The Posies, Beck). The track features backing vocals by Kay Hanley (Letters to Cleo, Doc McStuffins, Josie and the Pussycats). Their next single “Party All Night” is set to be released in early 2018.
