Bio

I’m a not-so-classical guitarist with a penchant for Gene Bertoncini,  Tuck Andress,  Chick Corea, Pat Metheny, Leo Brouwer, Ralph Towner, Chico Buarque,  Egberto Gismonti, and in general for any composer or song that resonates with me, no matter the genre. I also enjoy playing and singing Italian music.
Born in Palermo and raised in Rome, Italy, my exposure to music began early in life. My father played classical guitar and I loved listening to him playing the Spanish Romance. Our household music library included Broadway, Italian Opera and Operetta, American and Italian songwriters, jazz... and listening to it all taught me to be receptive to most genres.
While attending regular school I studied classical guitar with Sergio Notaro at the Centro Romano della Chitarra in Rome.  Intrigued by hard rock as a teenager, I taught myself to play electric guitar, eventually becoming the lead guitarist in an Italian pop band called Rouge Dada. We recorded with BMG Ariola and toured extensively around Italy.
I’ve studied jazz, blues and fusion with Rodolfo Maltese and Gabriele Spano, two widely renowned Italian guitarists.  While still working on electric guitar, I found myself going back more and more to my nylon strings, adapting for it what I was learning at the time.
After graduating in Foreign Languages at the University of Rome, I moved to the United States, where I’ve lived ever since and where for several years I’ve assisted Italian companies in penetrating the US market before becoming a full-time performing guitarist.
A member of the New York Classical Guitar Society, I perform at private events and public venues throughout the States. I’ve performed in public masterclasses for Joao Luiz Lopes of Brazil Guitar Duo, of whom I’m a current student, and Arthur Kampela.
I currently live bicoastal in California and New York City.
