Well hello!
My name is Samantha, but you can call me Sam. I am an 18 year old singer/songwriter from Ottawa, Canada. I have a passion for songwriting which began when I taught myself how to play the guitar 3 years ago. However, my love of writing has been with me since birth. I keep journals and notebooks filled with imagined stories because I just love chasing words into sentences. I also love finding the perfect rhymes. It’s pretty invigorating. I dream of publishing a book someday.
I love farms with white picket fences. I hope to own one in the future. I love small towns where everyone knows your name, and where you drive down side roads called “Whispering Lane.” I love cowboy boots, plaid shirts, and cowboys. I also have an absolute obsession with country music. It has always made my soul smile.
My mom is my best friend and I think that’s awesome. My grandpa is my hero. So is Taylor Swift. I’m a Taurus. I’m scared of carnival rides. I have a huge fear of moths. My favourite colour is purple. I am a dreamer. Music is my inspiration. I love finding new artists and having new music to listen to. I wish it was more acceptable to break out in song and dance at random intervals throughout the day. Just like on Glee. I believe that the Cowbell is a very under-rated instrument. Expect to hear lots of it in my songs. Unexpected jam sessions are the best way to spend a Friday night. I love Christmas and I love sparkly things. I over-analyze and over-think absolutely everything. I hate the sound that packing peanuts make. I love to talk in random accents. Right now, I’m trying to perfect the British accent. I am a hopeless romantic and fall quite easily for a gentleman in a plaid shirt. Yes, I believe my prince charming is out there somewhere, and that someday I will find him.
To break it down for you, I am an old-fashioned girl and it doesn’t take much to make me happy. Give me a guitar, a tall Java Chip Frappuccino from Starbucks, and a country CD, and you’ve got me smiling! I have a dream to share the beauty of music and the power of lyrics. I want to share the songs I write about my life and the people in it. (Even if they know I have a song written about them or they don’t..haha) The songs I write and the melodies I create, those are from my heart. I hope in some way they can make their way into your hearts. I want to inspire others like so many others have inspired me. I want to show others that it is okay to be themselves. It shows strength to stand by what you believe in. I want to leave my mark in this world in some way, and I think writing and creating music is a pretty cool legacy.
