"Samantha Murphy"

“...Unlike some of her collegues (like Liz Phair and Shannon Wright) Samantha Murphy doesn’t need big or small labels or big or small management. She does it all alone. A new, real, independent star is born.

The hot blooded, full time musician was born in Hawaii to Australian parents. Being part of the family band The Murphys, she grew up amongs Acrobats, Clowns and Musicians. Thankfully, she stuck to this uncertain and adeventurous tour-bus life style and makes better music than other family bands.

In such content surroundings, Samantha's excellently intense and sensitive songwriting has room to grow. Always with lyrics about the times, between emancipation, politics.... they’re having fun doing it. And we do too"

"Samantha Murphy"

Samantha Murphy of Australia is the type of singer-songwriter that you can't help but be drawn to ; Because her material is creatively original & non derivative , she displays all of the gifts of melodic content & unique style that others merely emulate

In "4402 Cadillac Ave." , Samantha's utilization of open chord & suspended configurations & progressions , plays out like a fresh & wide open vista. Her Vocals remind one of Sheryl Crow to some extent ; Yet the latter does not possess the singular vision that is a trademark innate quality of Samantha Murphy's music

'Far Away" is a more reflective & melancholy tune that speaks of the world weariness of a grown soul that perceives the beauty of love , amidst the pain & frailty of human imperfection. Sometimes the best thing we can do for ourselves in a relationship that is going nowhere , is to exit a dead end & get as far away from the other individual as possible. For our own sanity & theirs

'I Am You" is an atmospheric song augmented with electric & acoustic guitar passages , coupled with subtle synthesis & Vox backgrounds. A splash of Banjo sets a scenic stage of emotion & lyrical insight. After all , Are we not all sailing on this blue orb together , traversing a sea of time

'I Wanna Go Home" variates with a AAA-Pop-Rock edge & reads like an audio diary. Samantha Murphy has a breadth & diversity in her work that shines like a dazzling gem in a prism of grey walls & urban mundane landscape

In the delightful song "Come Back To You" , the listener's senses are hypnotized by a heartfelt & engrossing longing , that essentially melts the coldest of forlorn hearts. Complimented by backwards-gated electric guitar & a splash of subtle synthesis , this song is a strong & wonderous piece of music that sends shivers down the spine. A real gem of a tune indeed

It is of note that Samantha has worked with artists such as Crowded House , INXS & Paul Rodgers to name a few. Her entrancing voice & beguiling charm , emote her magnetic qualities into her sonic art tales

Samantha Murphy is at a periphery in her career & she only shows the tip of the iceberg. Where she goes from here only heaven knows. Because the future belongs to those who dream

There is no barrier to a rising star on the horizon & Samantha Murphy exhibits intrinsic characteristics , that are blinding in their potential to shine towards the meridian forever
