Biography

Growing up with the beach as his backyard, in a home that was constantly filled with music, it's no wonder where Sam got his laid-back yet musically sophisticated, easy-to-listen-to vibe that is apparent in both his albums--Songs for Someone and Every Time Im Home.
A multi-instrumentalist Sam plays guitar, drums, piano and sings on his most recent album, Every Time Im Home. His latest songs arent aligned with any one genre, but they do have a common theme of the ocean, family and love flowing through themthings Sam says he tends to write about.
These are the things that are closest to me. And because I write about those things, most of my songs send out a positive message. My casual personality is channeled through the music I write, which has a pretty chill vibe to it, but its hard to put a label on it. You hear elements of rock, pop, folk, country and blues throughout all of my tunes. I suppose it speaks to the influences Ive had over the years, he said.
Sam has been playing music from an early age when he started as a drummer in his familys band, The Gathering, and also in his brothers band, The Matt Chase Group. After graduating from Berklee College of Music and discovering his knack for writing songs, Sam set his eyes towards the singer-songwriter path and didnt look back.
Theres something about the guitar and something intimate and real about someone belting their heart out over an acoustic guitar. If I hear someone playing one, I have to go check it out and I think once I started writing a few of my own songs, I just got the bug, he said.
Sams earliest influences include Dave Matthews,Tom Petty, Sting and James Taylor, the latter of who Sam has been consistently compared to.
Yet Sam sings with a voice and plays with a rhythm that is entirely his own. Just a year after releasing his debut album, Songs for Someone, Sam was the winner of the 2010 Connecticut Folk Festivals Songwriting Contest and was a finalist in the 2009 Solarfest Songwriting Contest.
Every Time Im Home exudes Sams inherent musical ability. With his natural vocal talent and his catchy, diversified rhythms, its an album that pulls this gifted musician from his beachfront home in South Shore Massachusetts to the top of the list for todays up-and-coming songwriters.

Lyrics

Love Song

Written By: Sam Chase

(Verse)
It's late, I'm working overtime
Nothing seems to make the hours go by
I'm staring at a wordless page
Got my hands on my head
But nothing wants to leave
My mind through this hand

(Chorus)
But baby tonight we can make a love song
I could hold you in my arms
If you just take a ride on over
Baby tonight we could write a love song
Create a whole new story
If you were right here with me

(Verse)
There's a feeling that I get when you're here
It seems everything around us falls fast from my ears
If I ever lost you I don't know what I'd do
Why don't you just come over so I have someone to hold onto

(Chorus)
Baby tonight we can make a love song
I could hold you in my arms
If you just take a ride on over
Baby tonight we could write a love song
Create a whole new story
If you were right here with me

Look Into Your Eyes

Written By: Sam Chase

(Verse)
I start my day with a cup of coffee
You start yours with a glass of juice
I like to sit read the front page news
As you sift on through to the sales and the shoes
If I was your favorite kind of movie
You'd probably end up reading tonight
But I know deep down from the bottom of my heart
That I've loved you from the get go

(Pre Chorus)
Oh and I know we could be fighting everyday
And I know we could be running from our fate
And I know there's a chance that we could end up like all those folks

(Chorus)
But when I look into your eyes I see
The way that life's supposed to be
When I look into your eyes
I find what I've been looking for

(Verse)
I'll take the trash out if you do all the dishes
Seems like a fair trade to me
You label bins we can use to recycle
Then take up the house with your magazines
But all this complaining is because I love you
And teasing you is all fun for me
But don't worry baby 'cause we ain't in a hurry
'Cause you got a lifetime to get back at me

(Pre Chorus)
Oh and I know we could be running from our fates
And I know we could be fighting every day
And I know there's chance that we could end up all along

(Chorus)
But when I look into your eyes I see
The way that life's supposed to be
When I look into your eyes
I find what I've been looking for
I find what I've been looking for

(Bridge)
And there's no way to change my mind
And there's no hill that I won't climb
I need you and you need me too

(Chorus)
'Cause when I look into your eyes I see
The way that life's supposed to be
When I look into your eyes
I find what I've been looking for
