Born and raised in Simi Valley, Ca., Sam Cosio has been writing and performing original songs from the age of 12. Inspired by his father, Jesse, who is also a musician and songwriter, Sam learned early-on the draw of a rich melody and the power of a good lyric to impact a person at their core.
Later he stumbled onto music by artists like Tom Waits and Randy Newman and it seemed a new life was breathed into his craft. These guys had what Sam wanted. It was clear and beautiful, sweet and razor sharp. He began immediately to strive for the quality he heard in this intoxicating music.
Recently Sam graduated with honors from L.A.’s Musicians Institute where he spent a year and a half improving his skills as a guitarist and songwriter. He wrote over 40 new songs during his time at MI and built a reputation for himself as a promising and gifted new artist.
Aided by his powerful melodic sense and a true desire to communicate clearly, Sam uses his gifts to construct an instant of real contact between his mind and the mind of his listeners; an experience that can be shared like an adventure or an emotion or a tragedy by people with senses and memories to be stirred.
