"Sameera comes up trumps on breathe"

After years putting in the hardyards on the local music scene. Riverina artist sameera has come up trumps. The talented Narrandera songwriter has recieved a distribution and marketing contract with Canberra's Hardrush Music, just in time to back her latest release"breathe" The go-ahead company will be promoting Sameera here in australia and internationally and have already ensured that four of her songs will appear on compilation cds. "I just sent them through some of my music, they rang me back and said they loved it and it all snowballed from there" sameera said. Sameera's raw and powerful vocals shine in her live sets, and that sound has been captured on Breathe, with song like hit the road and wishful thinking. Sameera had a star studded who's who of regional talent perform on breathe, including bass player Pete Tiller and Col Anderson on guitar, while also working in the studio and song writing with Grant Luhrs. Tumut based Col Ray Price lent a hand on piano, adding a real sense of upbeat rhythm and a level of quality that only comes after years of touring and recording. The combination of artist and instruments has given "Breathe" depth and distinction across many layers - Wagga Advertiser-on the move section

Bio

Sameera is a Aussie regional songwriter with universal appeal. Singer/songwriter Sameera grew up in the NSW outback town of Narrandera on the banks of the Murrumbidgee River, where she still lives today. Inspired by the Country musicians of the NSW bush, Sameera became a songwriter at an early age, playing her own originals at local venues, before touring for years doing stage production with entertainers such as Slim Dusty and writing her own songs along the way with inspiration and guidance from the Australian Country legend.

Sameera returned to performing in 2002, recording the single “The Tank Man”, which won her a place in finals at the MusicOz national independent music awards. Her first full-length self-titled CD, “Sameera”, was released to critical acclaim and made Sameera a finalist in the prestigious APRA Professional Development Awards.

With her 2008 album “Breathe” Sameera won a place as a first round finalist in the ARIA Awards, making the ARIA top 30 and appearing on WIN TV.

Sameera’s newest CD, “Until It’s Torn”, was recorded by ARIA-winning producer John Prior (Matt Finish) who also plays drums on the album. “Until It’s Torn” showcases Sameera’s breadth of range as a writer and entertainer. With strong lyrics and performances that move effortlessly from acoustic ballads to soaring full-throttle vocals, “Until It’s Torn” reached #22 nationally in the Indie Charts at Triple J’s Unearthed in 2009. Sameera’s single “Her Cry” from the “Until It’s Torn” CD was a finalist in the 2010 MusicOz Awards.

With a sound that has been compared to Missy Higgins and Melissa Etheridge, Sameera is an original and dynamic artist not to be missed!
