"Wild Kindness on Sam Goodwill"

Sam Buonavolonta has been building toward something; something he hasn’t always been able to see but certainly something he feels, and that feeling has been spilling out of him through Sam Goodwill for the past few years. Sounds clash and mix to form his electronic-fused indie rock tinged soul, often accompanied by various combinations of band members and instruments. Until now, nothing has been permanent and nothing has been off limits. Even the critically acclaimed 2009 e.p. Stampede contained a controlled chaos of a perfectionist searching for perfection. 2011 may finally crystallize that vision when Buonavolonta - joined by Dennis Thomas as a touring two piece and now a part of The Epiphysis Foundation - releases what he calls, “the conceptual full length, fueled by adaptation, the support of loved ones, travelscapes and coffee.” - Wild Kindness

"Mid Point Music Festival10 - Review of Sam Goodwill"

Sam Goodwill isn't a guy but a trio that makes creatively shaped Art Pop folding in elements of slinky twilight Soul, skittish Funk and subtle Electronica. It's not often that you can say that a musical act is doing something truly unique but here's one of those rare instances. The song structures twist and turn inside out regularly as if guided by a maniacal GPS gone haywire but it's some how never jarring due to percision and telepathic interlock between the band members and the fluient vibe inheirent in their sound. Atop the busy arrangments flows a steady stream of melodic, soulful vocals, another element that just shouldn't work but Sam Goodwill makes it sound effortless. - City Beat

"FF@TAH - Review of Sam Goodwill & Stampede"

Dissonant, angular, very much in the veins of These Arms Are Snakes and later Refused, but at the same time a touch melodic…Sam Goodwill are good shit.?The Stampede EP could be ambient background music, but at the same time roart to the forefront and definitely grab your attention. There’s a mix of things going on here, including a definite soul, almost funk, influence that definitely separates them from a glut of other bands that try to mix post-rock and electronic. And I think that that’s why it works, being a vein of influence in there as opposed to a lot of bands I hear these days that claim a “soul” background but in reality, just rip on some Detroit rock riffs with the bass levels higher than usual for mainstream music.?Honestly, I don’t know how to just straight-up define Sam Goodwill, but I can say that I definitely like it. It’s easy to lose yourself in this as the whole thing flows, and not in a bad “every song sounds the same way”. Rather, it’s more of a hypnotic sound that draws you in and definitely grabs your attention. - Fistfight at The Arthouse

"AP Magazine - Review of Sam Goodwill - Stampede"

Sam Goodwill's aptly titled release Stampede was recently made available to eager ears and it does not disappoint. Their lyrics are well crafted and soulful, their melodies a tapestry in a house built out of rhythm. With a sound like Minus The Bear, the rhythms akin to the Dismemberment Plan and fired in the furnace of mid-'90s rock, Sam Goodwill have trampled my heart. They are the band that I want to be in.

"HET - Sam Goodwill Showcase Review"

Sam Goodwill took the stage. Sam Goodwill is a three piece indie/electronic band out of Youngstown, Ohio, led by Sam Buonavolonta. From the first song, you could tell that the band was giving it everything they had. The stage was filled with an amazing intensity that could not be denied. That intensity seemed to transfer out into the crowd. The catchy guitar riffs and incredible electronics almost make it impossible to stand still during their set. Be on the look out for Sam Goodwill’s EP which should be surfacing sometime soon.

Bio

Upon the independent release of his freshman EP "Stampede" in the latter days of 2009, Sam received acclaim amongst peers and professionals in the blog-o-sphere as well as in major publications. This lead to the eventual re-release of the EP in the autumn of 2010 under the wing of The Epiphysis Foundation.

2011 found Sam Goodwill anew as a 2 piece. Sam, along with partner Dennis Thomas, took novels of accumulated material into a large warehouse turned make-shift recording studio to conclude the awaited opus that began with "Stampede." The conceptual full length entitled "History" was released on vinyl in April of 2012.

In 2013 Sam tours with a 4 piece band, including Richard Elmsworth (Gil Mantera Party Dream) and Bob Young (Public Radio, Signature Event). He also tours solo with a stripped down / loop based repertoire.

When Sam is not on the road or writing music he's producing records in his warehouse project studio.
