"SAM LACHOW & RAZ – GOOD REASONS (FT. MAGIK) (VIDEO)"

Sam Lachow & Raz are producers, songwriters and rappers from Seattle. Here they drop off the visuals for their hit song “Good Reasons”. Sam Lachow & fellow Seattle lyricist Raz recently released their new EP “5 Good Reasons“. This track has a great blues and hip-hop feel with a dope trumpet solo towards the end. Enjoy. - Good Music All Day

"My Philosophy: Sam Lachow & Raz, Avatar Blaze Becomes Avatar Darko"

Sam Lachow & Raz have officially given you 5 Good Reasons—their joint project, available on DatPiff.com and other respectable digital domains. Raz, you'll recall, turned in what is possibly the realest song Seattle hiphop made in 2012, "They'll Speak (Intro)"—whose bars, I daresay, could've been spit by Kendrick Lamar himself. On the other side, Lachow—Shankbone alumnus—mines in a far poppier, takin'-it-easy-guy kind of vein, and it works wonders for him (young Seattle's earnest-bro rap scene really puts on, "tho"). It ends up a bit of a tug-of-war, vibe-wise—and "Nothing's Gonna Change" is a little too reminiscent of that Nelly/Tim McGraw cut for its own good—but it's still solid. Hit up the triple-threat release party for this project, plus new music from Moor Gang reps Steezie Nasa and Gift uh Gab, at Neumos on Friday, October 5.
I first wrote about Estonian-born rapper Danny Degtjar in 2005, when he was still known as Young Avatar. He had come up under the wing of NW knights Oldominion and the Stuck Under the Needle crew in their full swing—Yo Son! was popping at Chop Suey and Boom Bap Project ruled the roost—while he was still a high-school freshman, among whatever else ("World class trapper, you can't see me," he spit on his 2009 cut "NASA"). Under the aegis of the mysterious Shadow Company, Avatar soon dropped the "Young" prefix, but eventually added the suffix "Young Blaze" in tribute to his incarcerated streets mentor. All the while, he pumped out consistently high-quality product, including one of my favorite locally sourced mixtapes ever, last year's Danny Darko. Recently, Av hit me up to let me in on the fact that he was consolidating his aliases and was now to be known as Avatar Darko, just in time for the release of his 11th (!) full-length release, the sweltering Soviet Goonion. - The Stranger

"Review: Sam Lachow & Raz: 5 Good Reasons EP"

Title: 5 GOOD REASONS EP
Artists: Sam Lachow & Raz
Rating: 4 out of 5 Ice Creams
Highlights: The whole EP, especially “Nothing’s Gonna Change”
From the jump, Raz really had me on the edge of my seat listening to ‘The Introduction.’ His delivery was strong and the content was ‘street.’ Then Sam Lachow started rapping and I recoiled a little. The subject matter changed from Raz’s ‘bullet holes in my babies blanket’ to Lachow’s ‘dime bags in high school.’ It just kind of caught me off guard – like if your favorite white rapper all of a sudden popped up in the middle of your favorite Goodie Mob song.
By the time I got to the next track ‘Good Reasons,’ I had the speakers on blast. The rock solid production really compliments the emcees and gives each track a unique feel that made me wanna rock to it. Lachow and Raz manage to do a great job of complimenting each other while sounding nothing alike.
The number one reason I would recommend this EP to anyone, even my own mother, is both emcees make the listener feel like a good friend involved in an entertaining conversation about real life – with content about weed, money, hoes, etc.
(Also, be sure to reward yourself with a time out and check the videos.)

"Sam Lachow & Raz - Good Reasons"

The stereotypical emcee loves to don a larger than life persona, equipped with models, bubbly, cars and many other lavish extravagances. Lucky for us, Sam Lachow & Raz are not your typical rappers and they don’t need any bells and whistles to get your head-a-bobbin’. On their latest video, for new single Good Reasons, the duo put forth an impressive effort with a simple, genuine and relate-able approach. As you can see (and hear) Raz and Lachow are more than just co-workers. Their call and response, conversation style verses demonstrate a strong bond between and, in the video, they can bee seen partying with friends and perusing the local toy store, which seems like just another day in the life for the Seattle natives. Joining the dynamic duo is Magik, who lends his breezy vocals to the hook and even flashes his air trumpet skills. Capping off the effort is Riley, whose horn outro wraps up the affair nicely. For more genuine, personality filled jams check out Lachow and Raz’ recently-released 5 Good Reasons EP. - djbooth.net
