BandComedySinger/Songwriter

I write crowd-pleasers and tear-jerkers. I've been compared to Bob Dylan and John Prine, but it was for singing ability. My old man liked the Stanley Brothers. Mom liked Earth, Wind, and Fire. I was an only child. I'm funny.

Biography

I make my real living as a Radio Station's Program Director. I've been writing original music of all genres for a long time now. I play frequently with my father's bluegrass band, Roots and Branches. We have a cable access variety music show by the same name. I'm interested in playing some gigs within a few hours of Young Harris, GA. Ie. Asheville, Athens, Atlanta, Chattanooga, Greenville, etc.

The Name Song

Written By: Sammy Ensley

Anytime I hear your name, I’m ashamed. Anytime I hear your name, I’m ashamed.

Well I am, Yes Mam. I loved you since I saw you first sight. I mean sight unseen. My eyes green with envy. Your guy was my only enemy. Whoever he was, whatever he does, I mean girl, like you couldn’t find one good enough. Must be rough. All those fish in the sea, and you picking through the shellfish, but then there’s me see L.L.G. D- I-D-D-Why? Cause we aint feeling selfish.

Anytime I hear your name, I’m ashamed. Anytime I hear your name, I’m ashamed.

Well there’s some truth to this and after further analysis, all the lust and the coveting I got myself a few calluses. Had some cuts and scrapes, some narrow escapes. I was in pretty good shape ill they got it on tape. I didn’t just do it for the nookie. Something so unattainable. I Just wanted a cookie. Maybe a crumb like Lazarus. Didn’t know it was hazardous, but man it embarrassed us. I don’t know how your panties got there.

I’m a shy guy. I don’t know why. I mean I guess it’s ‘cause you’re so dang super special, and intellectual. Contrary to popular belief girl it aint all sexual. It’s sixth sensual, fifth dimensional, existentional, and of the best intentional. Might call it fixation. You might call it a crush. It’s hearing your name that I hear when I blush. ‘Cause it’s jam up and jelly roll tight. The only reason that I might get in a fight. You know it’s always new ‘cause it’s all the same. Now I’m just talking about what’s her name.

I Got it in Tune

Written By: Sammy Ensley

She says everything he does is magic. That being so you know it had to go tragic. Hurry up and shoot her quick. She’s just another damned love-sick lunatic. And that’s all we need running around, roping the moon, pulling it down, and taking it hard, outta bounds. She knows I’ll still be around. I’ll help ease her down. You know I’ll bring in the clowns.

‘Cause I I got it in tune. Like I’m the only dude that aint feeling them blues.
I I got it in tune. Like I’m the only dude that aint feeling them blues.

Now everything she does is tragic. She’s probably walking the line in blind-curve traffic.
She never once used the phone till she called from jail missing home. Well roses are red and all that’s marvelous. You’ve got to give credit to the masters of the obvious. The poets who know it, those that show it. I want my last words to be, “What Bus?”. ‘Cause love is a many splendored thing, but is it what’s gonna save us or is it doom that it brings? ‘Cause having it and losing it’s what sucks, and with my last damn breath I got to wish you good luck.

‘Cause I I got it in tune. Like I’m the only dude that aint feeling them blues.
I I got it in tune. Like I’m the only dude that aint feeling them blues.

I’ve been up and down the hill. I’ve felt the thrill. I’ve been through the motions. Been starved and I’ve had my fill. I had free will and I had devotion. Met a love and had my way. I went astray like I had been borrowed. I hit the wall and I had to pay. Now I’ll stay away tomorrow.

‘Cause I I got it in tune. Like I’m the only dude that aint feeling them blues.
I I got it in tune. Like I’m the only dude that aint feeling them blues.
