One Mouth Band

One Mouth Band

 San Francisco, California, USA

Cross Bobby McFerrin with Blake Lewis and stand back, 100% Organic Human Music never sounded so good! "Give this man a mic! Get him on a mic!" Grammy-winning producer Narada Michael Walden

He is called "The One Mouth Band" for good reason. Sam makes all the sounds of a band -- bass, guitar, synthesizers, horns, mouth-defying drums/percussion, and more -- with the precision of a seasoned musician. Add a sprinkling of live-looping (recording and layering parts live on stage), and you've got 100% organic human music and fresh, accessible entertainment. A musically and visually entertaining performer, Sam makes each show interactive and memorable for the whole audience. Just one of his performances can seamlessly range from jazz to rock to funk to blues to reggae, each with instrumental imitations and musical improvisations that have astounded audiences in North America, Europe, Asia, and Australia!

Forging new ground in a cappella music, Sam became the first solo a cappella act to compete against groups, winning two Ward Swingle Awards in the process for his Jazz and Pop performances at the 2003 Vokal Total International A Cappella Competition in Graz, Austria. His first solo CD "One Mouth Band" was nominated for Best Vocal Jazz Album by JPF IndieMusic Awards, and Sam’s performance and recording credits include work with artists as diverse as DJ Qbert, Joe Satriani, and Ramblin' Jack Elliot. He is currently a finalist in the 1st US Beatboxing Championships.

World of Music

World of Sound
World of Music
All a-round
Do you hear it?

In your head
It gets noisy
But in your heart
There is music

Make this your
Daily mission
Take some time
And just listen

World of Sound
World of Music
All a - round
Do you hear it?

You Got A Voice

Written By: Sam Rogers

You got a voice, so you can use it
You got a choice, until you choose to lose it
You got a mind, you got a heart
You got a life, you got a part

How do you stand up for what you know is so?
How do you reach out? Do you risk letting yourself grow?
How do you speak up? Do you put yourself on the line?
How do you claim your life? How do you shine?

We got a voice, we got the power
We got a choice, now is hour
We got a world, we gotta act
Or doomsday predictions will quickly become fact

Raise your voice for yourself
raise your voice for your soul
raise your voice for a purpose
raise your voice for a goal
Whatever the reason
where ever you start
When you speak your power straight from the heart
It fuels you, it fuels you

You got a voice, now use it
You got a choice, now choose it
You got a mind, now make it up
You gotta find a cause to take up

The world needs you
This world needs you
Yeah, you got a voice!

It Was A Lie

Written By: Sam Rogers

It was a lie, it was a deep down dirty lie
It was a lie, and I didn't listen

Somebody I loved once told me that
My music was silly, "It'll never amount to anything"
Someone I looked up to once said that
I'm not the guy to pull it off, "you're no Bobby McFerrin"
There were plenty of times that people I didn't even know said
"What is that guy doing over there, he's such a weirdo"
And somewhere in my mind I came to believe that
I'm not the vehicle for my own dream

It was a lie, it was a deep down dirty lie
It was a lie, and I didn't listen

If anybody ever told you that
You can't sing "Can't carry a tune in a bucket"
Sometimes the people you looked up told you "Well, that's nice and all, but you know you're really not that talented"
If somewhere in your mind you came to believe that you're not the vehicle for your own dreams
I've got something to say to you, it's just not true

It was a lie, it was a deep down dirty lie
It was a lie, and I didn't listen

Maybe it takes a little work
Maybe it takes a little time
Just like learning how to walk
Maybe takes a little work, maybe takes a little time
Just like learning how to talk
Maybe takes a little work, maybe takes a little time
Just like learning how to get along
Maybe takes a little work, maybe takes a little time
Just like learning how to love someone
