"Introducing... Samson & Delilah"

Many bands shed old feathers to reveal new glorious guises and Samson & Delilah are a case in point. As the Waverton Collective, they were pleasant yet forgettable. Under the new moniker, they are gently gorgeous, slipping alt.country meanderings underneath tender folk to deliver a package that sparkles and shimmers with serene splendour.

"Samson & Delilah at the Roadhouse"

A further endorsement of the fact that Manchester is the capital of new folk music and that even within such a scene if it can be defined, there is music behind the much touted names that’s perhaps even more special and original. They command the biggest hush – the pindrop moment – with the beautiful, folk driven wonder of “Starlight In The Afternoon” – you instantly know when you’ve heard it why so many of us admire and enjoy this essential movement of people and ideas. - ManchesterMusic.co.uk

Bio

Husband and wife Sam Lench and Anna Zweck formed Samson & Delilah out of the burgeoning Manchester based singer-songwriter / multi-instrumentalist ensemble The Waverton Collective in 2007.
Over the last two years, Sam and Anna have written and recorded the debut Samson & Delilah album, out in Autumn 2009 on Little Red Rabbit Records with European distribution via Forte. Influenced by stories & traditions old & new, Samson & Delilah write songs of love and hate, truth and deceit, beauty and decay. Instrument by instrument, layer upon layer, recording has taken place in churches, bedrooms, bathrooms and studios across the country. Influences range from traditional British folk, Australian Roots music (Anna and Tammy are both from Adelaide), Classical chamber music, Post-Rock and unashamedly catchy pop music. Performing extensively throughout the north of England support slots have included A Hawk & A Hacksaw and Mick Turner (Dirty Three).
Chris Long at BBC Manchester recently said that we were "gently gorgeous, slipping alt. country meanderings underneath tender folk to deliver a package that sparkles and shimmers with serene splendour".
