You guys have so much talent, thank you for the music. The passion you instill in your performance is something that can't be taught, you either have it or you don't, Sand has that special ingredient - HEART. Sand is the 1st local band to earn, The Arena of Rock Seal of Approval.

Another Madison veteran rock outfit, also with a blues and acoustic influence, SAND, just released their new EP featuring songs of their upcoming CD, Aces and Eights (complete with a raunchy release party at Madison's home for damaged goods, Visions Gentlemen's Club.) Lead singer, Michael Alexander, has a heartfelt intensity and the backup vocals are soulful and surprisingly not out of place (well done gospel-y backups in rock songs are almost as difficult to pull of as a saxophone solo without sounding lame) but with engineering by Muzzy Luctin's Paul Schluter, everything comes off commandingly. “Jesse Jamez” and “Moonsoldier” are the two standouts, but the rest of the CD is full of unlisted tracks of Alexander's solo material, so there's plenty to chew on. With the bassist and lead guitarist leaving for Milwaukee, their upcoming shows in October and November might be the last chance to see this band with this lineup.

Bio
SAND was formed in 2001 by lead singer Michael Alexander and Drummer Paul Zander. After stints with various bass and guitar players, SAND added bassist Wade Radtke in 2006, and lead guitar player Michael Brooks early in 2007.
Sand's stage show is packed in high energy and crowd interaction. SAND's philosophy is, "how can a band expect the crowd to dance, if the band is not dancing to their own music?"
