Sandhya Sanjana's Karma

Bombay - Maximum City: A swirl of colours. A cacophony of sound. Masses on the move. Fragrance of spices. In a quiet spot a holy man meditates. The sound of temple bells in the distance. A woman walks by with ankle bells and flowers in her hair. This city, a whirlpool of frantic activity, yet with a center of tranquility.

Born and raised in the Cosmopolis of Contrasts, Sandhya's music is a mix of Indian melodies and rhythms, with jazz and
world flavours. Or is it jazz with an Indian flavour? The answer will always elude us.

Amsterdam - Europe's Melting Pot of Cultures. For centuries. Open, inviting, embracing, including. Canals of tranquility. Old, charmingly tilting buildings that make time stop still. Markets bustling with activity. Many tongues spoken. Vibrant, colourful and quirky. This city, Sandhya's new home, a cross road, a meeting point, a source of new inspiration. 

Sandhya invited fourteen of her most favourite artists from all over the world, all stars in their own right, to create a magnificent catalogue of her journeys around the world. She recorded Random Access Melody (CD / iTunes). She performs this music with a five piece band. Both the album and the live concert tours received rave reviews all over the world. 

Sandhya was classically trained in India under various gurus. Later she discovered jazz and world music and started fusing 
these genres with Indian classical vocals. She has composed, recorded and performed her music embracing many styles. In the last years, she has toured and performed extensively all over the world.

The latest incarnaction of this setup, Karma, features her Amsterdam based band, all eclectic musicians, that provide her a magic carpet to fly on.....
