Bio

Sandra Bazzarelli is a singer/songwriter from Bergen County, New Jersey who has been performing at various clubs in New York City with her band over the course of the past nine years. While earning her BA in Literature and Writing from Columbia University, and her MA from NYU, some of the places she and her band have played include: Downtime, The Baggot Inn, The Bitter End, CB's 313 Gallery, CB's Lounge, The Elbow Room, Acme Underground, The Lion's Den, The Garden at Ave C, The Lizard Lounge, Kenny's Castaways, Coda, Bar B, C-Note, Tobacco Road, Le Bar Bat, Knitting Factory, The Cutting Room, Club Groove, Continental, & National Underground, to name a few. Having been invited to play various independent music festivals over the years, Bazzarelli has performed in both NYC's M.E.A.N.Y. (Musicians & Emerging Artist of New York) Fest, and the NYIMF (New York Independent Music & Film) Fest. Her songs "Rocket" & "Another Friend" also won her a runner-up prize in a VH-1 sponsored, Save the Music songwriting contest.

At age nineteen Bazzarelli independently wrote, recorded, & produced a full length, self-titled LP that was well-received & immediately caught the attention of New York & New Jersey club booking agents. She went on to successfully sell her CD single, "Gemini Standing", a song written and produced to benefit the NY/NJ victims of the September 11, 2001 tragedy. The song, incidentally, whose proceeds thus far have gone to The American Red Cross & The Leary Firefighters Foundation, was often played throughout the Metropolitan area on internet and college radio. Additionally, at the urging of her ever-growing live show following, Bazzarelli had a demo she recorded in 2000 pressed for the masses in October of 2002. Calling this EP Kindle, Bazzarelli has moved 2000+ copies of the CD to date by selling them online and at shows.

In 2003 Bazzarelli released an LP aptly titled Rekindled that, in addition to including all six tracks found on Kindle, also included three brand new tracks & "Gemini Standing". Songs from both releases have been played on internet radio, helping Bazzarelli to move 2000+ copies of that CD as well. In a review of Rekindled, Billy (The Blogging Poet) Jones called Bazzarelli’s songs, “solid, rhythmic, heartfelt, and timeless.” Adding, “Her vocals are exemplary, with all the polish of a veteran singer twice her age without the cynicism that seems to hide behind the notes of so many singers these days. "Courtney", one of the songs featured on Rekindled, even made her way into the independent, award-winning short film Stand By. Bazzarelli’s latest release, an EP titled A Demonstration in 4 Plays, is a four song statement on the evolution of Bazzarelli’s songwriting and overall sound. “Hide Inside” and “Good” are two songs from the CD that Bazzarelli recently performed on the popular Delaware-based Tim Qualls Show.

The critics seem to be in agreement on Sandra Bazzarelli. Skope Magazine: “Sandra is a double threat; she has the voice and the personality to boot. Her sound is powerful and her songwriting pulls you in.” Amplifier Magazine: "New Jersey native Sandra Bazzarelli arrives bearing an assured attitude and lyrical wit. Well-seasoned in the Manhattan performance scene, a powerfully supple voice completes this singer/songwriter/performer trifecta."
