Biography

Performing songwriter Sandra Julian crosses pop, blues, country and jazz with a powerfully rich voice and a diverse writing style. Sandra has also performed different styles of music across the country in many different formats - in duo acts - pop, country, swing and big bands and in jazz harmony groups. She joined the Chicago cast during the six year run of the musical production "Pump Boys and Dinettes" and went on in the show to an eight month run at "The Kennedy Center For The Performing Arts" in Washington, D.C.

Sandra released her first LP of original music in 2003 and Jon Bream of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reviewed her song "Set Me Free" as "scorching southern blues". She releases her second LP of original music "From The Inside" November 2004 after eight months of writing for this LP. Eugene Foley of Foley Entertainment said "The overall presentation was excellent - from the graphic design to the photography - to the songs and the performance. You can be very proud of this record." Songu.com reviewed her song "The Right Thing" - "This is a solid piece of music enhanced by an excellent vocal performance. The track itself smokes with some very good electric guitar playing, too. Fresh blues lyric, very thoughtful and emotional. A true statement about life....the performance is so powerful it never fails to hold the listener's attention."

After it's release, "The Right Thing" reached #13 on Garageband.com blues chart and #33 in R&B and was awarded Track of Day and Track of Week in blues.

Sandra enjoys and is continually influenced by a wide range of writers and artists - John Mayer, Shawn Colvin, Sting, Sarah McLachlan, Keith Urban, Mark Cohn, Johnny Lang, Carole King, Allison Krauss, Elton John, Celine Dion, Patty Lovelace, Wynonna, Counting Crows, The Subduds, Vince Gill, Sheryl Crow, Ella Fitzgerald, Barbra Streisand, Amy Grant and Keb Mo.....to name a few...... and love's swing. She hope's to forever develop and transform as a writer, performer, artist and overall human being and to live the creative process for the rest of her life.

Lyrics

The Right Thing

Written By: Sandra Julian

You say you wanna do the right thing, the right thing for who?
You say you wanna do the right thing, what’s the right thing to do?
We torture our soul, and think we oughta know
What’s the right the thing to do

Life isn’t always easy, sometimes the road gets so hard
Life isn’t always easy, sometimes the road gets so dang hard
I’ve about lost my mind, at least a thousand times
Tryin’ to figure the right thing to do

Now the mind is a good thingbut there’s some things we just can’t figure out
Now the mind is a good thingbut there’s some things we just can’t figure out
It’s a waste of our time, a game for the mind
Searchin’ for the right thing to do

Take a look right there, see what you do
Take a look right there, just, just see what you do
Not ‘till you make a move, will you know what you’re gonna do
No use searchin’ for the right thing to do
No use searchin’ for the right thing to do
No use searchin’ for the right thing to do

Nothin'

Written By: Sandra Julian

Chorus:
Nothin’ I have to do today, nothin’ I
have to do today
Oh nothin’ I have to do today
But sit right down on my knees and
pray yeah
Sit right down on my knees and pray

Verse 1:
When I was a little child
Mama said don’t you be wild
Wear your pretty dress today
I like it when you look that way

Verse 2:
When I grew into the world
It was do it this way or you’re a bad
girl
Sell your soul to conformity
Or all alone you’ll always be

Repeat Chorus

Verse 3:
A good girl for all to see
Lived my life perfectly
Hid my voice along the way
Afraid they wouldn’t let me stay

Verse 4:
Now I’m so tired a’ tryin’ to be
I lay it all down say I wanna be free
Will learn to feel what’s in my heart
And live from there, no more to part

Repeat Chorus

Hold Me For A Little While

Written By: Sandra Julian

Verse 1:
I keep goin’ round in circles day after day
This life that I’ve been livin’ must be gettin’ in the way
I’ve tried everything I know it’s time to try somethin’ new
Can you tell me what it is that I should do

Chorus:
Hold me for a little while, I don’t need you to stay
I just want someone to talk to, It’s been hard to face this day
I want you to tell me, things will be o.k.
So hold me for a little while, I need you today

Verse 2:
I stand here knowin’ it’s time for change
But I’m afraid to make a move don’t wanna play those same old games
I don’t know where to go and tell me how do I choose
I’m glad you’re here as my friend I’ve got a way of life to lose

Repeat Chorus

I See Clearer Today

Written By: Sandra Julian

Verse 1:
What’s happened to my faith today
It’s gone away
Out the door
It’s not here anymore
And my heart just breaks
From that look on your face, the other day

Chorus:
And I keep wondering
How things ended up this way
I guess it’s me who’s been the fool
Sometimes it’s hard to see the truth
But I see clearer today

Verse 2:
I have lived my life
Turned off inside
Too much pain to see
For you and for me
But when I close my eyes
I am not strong or wise, I am just afraid

Repeat Chorus

Bridge:
The time has come, there’s nowhere left to run
There’s no place to hide, the heart will not be denied

Repeat Chorus

The Wonders In The Moment

Written By: Sandra Julian - Music/Lyrics, Linda Marcus - Lyrics

Verse 1:
The wonder of life, is right before our eyes
So let’s open them wide, and let the wonder come inside
When we believe in who we are, the belief will take us far
Then we’ll see, we all are free, that’s the way it’s meant to be

Verse 2:
What good is foolish pride, there’s no need to hide
Behind the walls of our hearts, that keep us all apart
The way that we grow, is just by letting go
Let’s fall into, what’s meant for me and you, the life of love we never knew

Chorus:
The wonder’s in the moment, each moment of our life
If we dare to take the time, to be still and quiet our mind
We know the road behind us, and our dreams can light the way
But the wonder’s in the moment, live for today

Instrumental

Repeat Chorus

I Think Of You

Written By: Sandra Julian

Verse:
Lookin’ for somethin’, to fill up the time the minutes feel like days
Lookin’ for something’, to occupy my mind ever since you went away

Chorus:
So I go down to the city lights
Run into a friend of mine
Who asks how I’m doin’ today
I smile and say I’m doin’ fine
Anything to kill the time
But as he turns to walk away
I think of you

Bridge
Oh another day
I try to find my way
But life is a mystery
What will ever make me happy, I wanna know, will it ever be so

Chorus:
So I go down to the city lights
Run into a friend of mine
Who asks how I’m doin’ today
I smile and say I’m doin’ fine
Anything to kill the time
But as he turns to walk away
I think of you
