Feeling a bit camera shy

Sandra Melena has always loved music. Born in Colombia and raised in the United States, Sandra Melena learned how to meld her latin roots to American pop music. Sandra first showed an interest in music when she was just three years old. At the age of 7, she started to sing with VOENA (Voices of Eve N Angels), a professional children's choir directed by Annabelle Marie. With VOENA, Sandra toured in Japan, China, Italy, Greece, and Mexico. Sandra began private lessons soon after joining VOENA and studied under Annabelle Marie. Sandra was honored to sing a solo at The International Pageant of Peace in 2003. Sandra has also performed for: President Clinton and President Bush, First Lady Hillary Clinton and First Lady Laura Bush, LoneStar, May Angelou, CeCe Winans, Jose Feliciano, Pope John Paul II, and the broadway cast of Mamma Mia. Sandra has also trained with Anja Strauss at the San Francisco Conservatory, where she gained a love for classical music. After graduating high school, Sandra Melena embarked on her music journey at The Berklee College of Music. While at Berklee, she focused on songwriting, music business, and composing. It was at Berklee that Sandra Melena met Anthony Del Barrio.

Anthony Del Barrio has always been involved with music. At the age of five, Anthony began taking piano lessons and began his classical music studies. While attending The San Francisco School of The Arts he shined in the piano department. It was then that he began studying Jazz and Latin Jazz. He played in both the Latin Jazz Band as well as the Jazz Big Band and played in the Latin Jazz Youth Ensemble directed by John Calloway. After graduating, Anthony continued his musical studies at The Berklee College of Music. Anthony Del Barrio majored in Jazz Composition and performed in The Berklee Salsa Ensemble and The Meters Ensemble. Anthony was thrilled to have represented The Berklee College of Music at Carnival of Barranquilla in Miami to play with legendary Colombian salsa star Joe Arrlyo.

Blending their unique musical experiences with sounds that they were raised with, Sandra and Anthony began collaborating and creating their own music. Sandra Melena writes all of the original lyrics and has compared her writing style to journal writing, "the best lyrics are those that are real and unique to the individual, I try to be honest and write in a personal reflective style". Anthony writes, arranges, plays, and records all of their songs. Sandra sings, creates her own melodic lines, and directs the songs created. Together they create music that has influences from Earth Wind & Fire, Eva Cassidy, D'Angelo, Alicia Keys, Sade, and influences from Hyphy music and hip hop. Sandra and Anthony are in the process of recording their premiere EP that will showcase both of their many talents.
