Sandy Hosey Releasing First CD
Charlotte, N.C. - September 12, 2007 - Charlotte-based singer Sandy Hosey, whose career has spanned the globe, is releasing her first country CD, entitled “Mama Be Back She’s Gone Country.”
Says Hosey, “During my career, I’ve performed many kinds of music, including gospel, pop, patriotic and country. ‘Mama Be Back She’s Gone Country’ includes various styles of New Country and Gospel music in an upbeat celebration of life. It includes both classics and some of my original work.”
Sandy Hosey began her musical career as a child in Memphis, Tennessee, when her talent was recognized by a local disc jockey. She became a member of the widely-known “Teen-Town Singers” sponsored by WDIA, the first black staffed radio station in the U.S.. While a student at LeMoyne-Owen College in Memphis, she performed nationally and internationally with the “Holiday Inn Messengers,” a good-will-ambassador singing group sponsored by the Holiday Inn chain of motels. She continued her singing career by performing as a soloist and with groups in numerous venues both nationally and internationally.
Hosey has shared the stage with such notables as Kenny Rogers, Johnny Cash, Bob Hope and Danny Thomas. She has performed on many radio and TV programs, including the Mike Douglas Show, and has entertained U.S. troops in Europe and Asia. Her performances have ranged from appearing at the National Governors Convention to singing before 1.5 million people in Mexico City.
“I love many styles of music and have tried to appeal to varied tastes with “Mama Be Back She’s Gone Country,” says Hosey. “I’m especially excited that the CD might lead many of my fellow African Americans to add country music to the rich musical heritage we share.”
In addition to their mutual love of music, Sandy and husband, Russell, are also committed to public service. They have been associated with several Christian ministries, including that of the Rev. Dr. Billy Graham. They each are chaplains accredited by the International Fellowship of Chaplains. Sandy also founded Camp-A-Kid Encounter (C.A.K.E.) to aid the children of prison inmates.
“Mama Be Back She’s Gone Country” was produced by Russell Hosey, with engineering by Brian Gandy, and was recorded at the studios of Zamar Music and D’vine Music in Charlotte, N.C.

Bio

An unusual talent and personality best describes the gift and life of Sandy Hosey. As a world traveler, Sandy has a special God-given gift to communicate effectively to audiences of varied ethnic backgrounds. Her purpose in life is to bring unity and hope to people of all races and backgrounds. Her dynamic voice and stage presence will invite you to enter into her song with her. As a young girl growing up in Memphis, Tennessee, Sandy’s unique singing talent was recognized by a local radio disc jockey, A.C. "Moohaw" Williams. She soon became a member of the famous “Teen-Town Singers,” a part of W.D.I.A., the first Black-Staffed Radio station in the country heard across eight states. That group produced many top named singing artists, entertainers, circuit court judges, lawyers, professors, state representatives, business owners, etc.

While a sociology student at Le-Moyne-Owen College, the door opened for Sandy to travel worldwide with the “Holiday Inn Messengers,” a good-will ambassador singing group sponsored by the International chain of Holiday Inns. The Messengers were a closely knitted group whose tight, driving sound combined the best of pop, top-40, blues, country, patriotic and gospel tunes. Their performances were in a new dimension and their sound was in tune with only one audience...The Brotherhood of Mankind.

While in this group, she sang for benefits with people such as Bob Hope and Danny Thomas at the St. Jude Shower of Stars, as well as opened State Fair Shows with Kenny Rogers, Johnny and June Cash, Mac Davis and other celebrities.

While a part of the Messengers, she performed at county and state fairs such as the Ozark Empire, Missouri State Fair, Mid-South Fair, DuQuoin Fair, Texas State Fair and the Florida State Fair. She also performed at Knotts Berry Farm in 1974 as well as the Mid-South Sport, Boat, Travel and Vacation Show.

As a part of the group she made many appearances at Callaway Gardens, Georgia and the San Diego Zoo. Other engagements found Sandy singing for Senator John Glenn’s Inaugural Ball soon after they had performed for the seven original Astronauts' first reunion, on the Mike Douglas TV Show in 1974 along with guest Pat Boone and family, before 1.5 million people in Mexico City as well as on two nationwide telecast in that country, for the National Governor’s Convention, and throughout Europe and Asia entertaining American soldiers for the U.S. Department of Defense. All of these experiences helped prepare Sandy for what God has called her to today and that is to sing from her heart to yours.

Singing country music is now an evolution of what is in her heart to bridge the gap that exist between the two gospels and that of country music itself. She did it many years ago and now it is in her heart to do it again. Sandy says “I’m especially excited that the CD will lead many of my fellow Afro Americans to add country music to the rich musical heritage we share.”

Sandy is married to Sr. Chaplain Russell Hosey and has been happily married since July of 1976. They have four children and two grand daughters. They have been Co-Directors for Billy Graham’s Christian Radio Station KAIM in Honolulu, Hawaii. Five years later they served as Directors of Evangelism for the Illinois District of the Assemblies of God. God then led them to Charlotte, NC where they served as TV personnel, staff and area pastors for Heritage Church and Ministries.

In 1996, Sandy became Founder and Director of a unique urban program called Camp-A-Kid Encounter (C.A.K.E.). It is primarily directed toward children of jail and prison inmates. Sandy believes that no matter what the parent(s) has done or what society may say concerning the parent(s), that their children should be given a chance to make it in this life. Together with other children who are experiencing some of the same questions and difficulties they are directed in a positive direction.

In February, 1997, a lot of things changed for Sandy and her husband Russ. Television Fore-Christ Ministry that was seen on the Inspirational Network, the Angel Network and many other networks around the country and the world ask them to come and be a part of the broadcasting team. They were with that program for 3 years. That program had 17 Million viewers at any given time of viewing.

On June 14, 2003 Sandy became a chaplain and received a Certificate of Completion from (IFOC) the International Fellowship of Chaplains, Inc. certification. She is now Executive Director of the IFOC/CC3 Chaplain Corps a community based chaplaincy group in North Carolina. She is among a group of trained chaplains in the area of CISM and FEMA training. She is also a chaplain with the Billy Graham Rapid Response Team which went down to New Orleans soon after Katrina. Her gift of music was also a gift to provide comfort and peace to the desperate people still remaining in that are
