Bio

San Harbor is a band from The Wirral, Merseyside they formed in May 2009. San Harbor consists of Michael ‘Macca’ Sheldon vocals and rhythm guitar, Richard ‘Richy’ Barbour vocals and lead guitar, Jamie ‘Stun’ Sturgess bass guitar and Tom ‘Tom Tom’ Longman percussion. All members attended the same High school albeit different years. Watching a cover band in local nightclub while Macca was on weekend leave from the Royal Marines, he and Richy discussed forming a band with the persuasion of Stun. Rich was already an accomplished guitar player highly commended by his peers and previously played in a cover band. Having the ability to arrange spontaneous pitch perfect licks to any song encompassing the melodic sound of San Harbor, the two guitarists playing styles clicked together. With the use of Stuns spare room as a makeshift recording studio self taught guitarists Macca and Richy laid down years and years worth of their own tunes. It was then clear that they needed a bass player and a drummer, it was decided that stun would become the bass player even though he had never picked up the instrument before. With a lot of dedication and to Richy and Macca’s amazement he learnt how to play in a matter of weeks. All that was needed now was a suitable percussionist to fit in a band with mixed influences ranging from flamenco, folk and blues to heavy metal. After hearing a friend had a younger brother who played drums, he was quickly drafted in to jam with some tunes which instantly fitted in with his creative self taught drumming.
The band rapidly finished years of written material rehearsing 1 day a week on weekends as Macca was away through the week. After completing so many songs in a short time the band new it was time to record some tracks. Mike Johnson was brought in to record and produce a 6 track demo in October 2009 recorded over one weekend. The band performed their first gig after 4 months spent writing and perfecting their set, headlining at The Masque (Barfly) Club in Liverpool. They then performed their 2nd gig soon after at the Zanzibar Club Liverpool were the band were asked to support Andy McKee also at the Zanzibar Club as part of his UK tour. San Harbor was also asked to perform at a New Years Eve party at Fallen Industries. In 2010 San Harbor were picked to perform at the ‘Sunset Festival’, The Wirral’s first music festival to be held in Thurstaston over the last weekend of May. The Band are now looking forward recording the rest of their material and complete their first album.
