Bio

Sans Axiom is an energetic musical collaboration of 3 best friends, trying to make the world a better place, open minds and provoke thought, musically.

Sans Axiom originally started with Adam Gates, Ryan Goens, and Matt Anderson goofing around and hanging out playing music just to pass the time.

After some long jams they realized that they all had a great musical chemistry together. All three of them were in drum line in their high school days. Ryan also played bass growing up. Adam had a background in piano before picking up the guitar. They noticed that the songs that they were jamming came easy to them and started experimenting with some different formats.

After some time they decided a lead vocal was needed that had a diverse musical background, and someone that was close to them with the same groove and spirit.

After a couple of auditions they found a good friend, Phil Ventura, who had been coming to band practices just to hang out, was the perfect fit for where they wanted to go with the future of the band. They started writing original music and played more shows at the Blue Note, Harvey's, 8th Street Tavern etc.... and added even more venues playing at Stacey's Place in Cheviot, The Oak Tavern in Oakley, Froggy Blues in Monroe, as well as The Clifton Heights Music Fest at Mac's Pizza.

Things were beginning to pick up, Sans Axiom's name was being spread and were generating a good fan base. After some time Phil decided that he was not the man to be the front man and wanted to go back to his roots as a bass player. The band understood Phil's passion and desire to play the instrument he loved and soon he joined a band as their bass player.

Adam, Ryan and Matt were far from calling it quits. They started practicing again and restructured the set list with some new songs. Adam transitioned to singing and they brought in Jason Kistner to play lead guitar.

This allowed Adam to concentrate harder on the vocal elements of the songs and generate the perfect sound Sans Axiom was looking for. They wrote more originals with Jason and started playing out even more, usually twice a month at venues like Jefferson Hall, Poppy's Sports Bar. Plus Molly Malones in Covington, Game Time in Cheviot, and Midway Cafe in Fort Thomas. One of their first shows with Jason was at Cincy Rock Fest 2011.

Sans Axiom became even better musicians and had a great chemistry together. They pushed each other to become better, however Jason had an opportunity to advance his career and moved to Los Angeles.

Without hesitation the original three (Adam, Ryan, and Matt) refined, once again, their music and found that the energy and sound was even stronger with just the three of them. This is the Sans Axiom you see today.

In 2013, Sans Axiom started playing shows at The Thompson House and even opening for a national act at The Madison Theater. The band has been focusing on promoting their original songs and spreading the positive energy and spirit of Sans Axiom.

Sans Axiom just finished in the studio recording their debut album, "Without Accepted Truth"
