Bio
The Santo 7 is a band born in 2012 in Salvador, Bahia, Brazil. Created by Robson de Almeida, former drummer of the band Lampirônicos, the new project entitled 'psychedelic baião' prints a peculiar dynamics and creates a very own identity in its rhythmic approach through the bass drum, which is no longer a simple monitoring tool to make the forefront of the musical work.
Robson Almeida was born in Salvador, Bahia and started his musical career in 1993 playing in the carnival of Salvador with artists like WaltinhoQueiroz and ArmandinhoMacedo. Then participated in concerts with renowned artists of Brazilian music - Tuzé de Abreu, ElzaSoares and Luis Melodia. Participated in workshops alongside renowned musicians, like Tito Puente and Richie "Gajate" Garcia.
As a member of the bandLampirônicos Robson composed two songs that are on the second album, entitled 'Toda Prece’ (Every Prayer): 'Subwoofer de Xangô’ and 'CapitãoPageú’. Participated in the Gold Record project SESC in São Paulo, a concert in honor of the disk AcabouChorare, of the group NovosBaianos. In this show the Lampirônicos musicians performed alongside established artists of Brazilian music as Luis Melodia, ElzaSoares, Baby do Brazil and Orchestra Mantiqueira. The band participated in editions of MULTISHOW and Cultural Market, sharing the stage with David Moraes (RJ), Rebecca Matta and Mariella Santiago (BA), Cabruêra (PB), Bonsucesso Samba Club and Siba (PE) and La Caution (France). Still with the Lampirônicosband Robson participated in two video clips and recorded the albums ‘Que Luz é Essa?’ (What is This Light?) and '’Toda Prece’; the first album was released in Brazil by Sony Music and in Europe by VIP seal, being produced by Paulo Rafael and Carlinhos Brown with the participation of Dominguinhos and AlceuValença. The second album was distributed nationally by Trama. The work has the participation of the musicians Paulo Rafael (AlceuValencaguitarrist), Marcos Suzano and the singer Rebecca Matta. Among the presentations with Lampirônicos stand out holdings in Brazilian Summer Festival, 1st Brazilian Music Festival in London (England), University of Coimbra (Portugal), Sfinks Festival (Belgium), Festival Afro Brazil (Tübingen, Germany) and Montreux Jazz Festival (Switzerland).
BetoEspinola (vocals and guitar) Álvaro Lobo (vocals)Robson de Almeida( Percussão) and Santz( DJ), the proposal of the Santo 7 band is to make a contemporary regional music through their typical instruments - bass drum and triangle - promoting a merger with sounds and textures of modern electronic music as samplers. In this melting pot rhythms broadcast by artists like Jackson do Pandeiro, Luiz Gonzaga, MUSE and Battles - typical representatives of northeastern music and wordmusic - gain a new look showing that instruments before stigmatized as the exclusive use of certain styles such as baião, the xote and xaxado - for the bass drum and the triangle - can dialogue with electronic music in a universal language, making a redesign of northeastern music and giving it a contemporary view.
