Bio

SANYLAND is a group of Bratislava musicians functioning on the boundaries of folk, jazz, blues, and world music and is based on the authentic songs creation of Slavo Sany Grek. It is connected by a creative effort to find untraditional musical intersection while maintaining clarity and comprehensability of the songs. In the 90s, the Group introduced itself to a wider public during a joint tour with Jaromir Nohavica - Divne stoleti, and by performing in TV, radio stations and important music festivals. Subsequently, Sanyland lapsed into silence while its members wanted to pursue their other projects (Slide&Udu, Jana Kirschner, Richard Muller, Peter Lipa, Peter Cmorik). Sanyland's comeback was pleasantly concluded by taking part in the international music festival ZAHRADA in 2007 where it was awarded a prize of the Folk & Country magazine. Song Modlivky sang by Maria Cirova was released as a part of Vit Sazavsky's compilation "Havet vselijaka 2". Sanyland performed on the concerts jointly with Nerez, Honza Nedved, Trio Indienational, Christian Cuff, Longital, and Mark Geary among others. In 2008 it released its debut album Trochu korenia with SLNKO Records. Lyrics to several Sany's songs were written by Logital. Logital also recorded some of these songs on its album. Song "Modry plyn", where Sany is the author of the music, appeared in the movie Hodinu nevis. In 2009, Zuzana SUE Mikulcova, student of the Prague Conservatory and the winner of "Nove tvare slovenskeho jazzu" (New Faces of Slovak Jazz) competition joins the Group.
