Sapphyre

My name is Schivon a.k.a Sapphyre. Sometimes I hum a melody almost out of thin air and suddenly it has been transformed into a catchy song. Sometimes, my songs come to me in a dream and haunt me from the time that I wake up until I go back to bed. Yet, other times, I hear an instrumental and it is almost as if the beat has already written the song and is just using me to transcribe it.

I am a musical chameleon. I can easily write from the male or female perspective. Or from the wise and experienced point of view, to that of the young and innocent. While I favor writing songs in the R&B, Dance, and Pop genres, I have written hypnotic and memorable hits in the country, gospel, rap/Hip-hop, and alternative genres. I love to be stretched and challenged. I also love to sample and integrate aspects of songs from great artists of the past. I foresee that my songs will not only top charts and receive awards, but will also be featured on television and in films across the globe.

My biggest influences are: Mary J. Blidge, Aretha Franklin, Donna Summers,B.B. King, Nancy White, Chaka Khan, Elton John, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Red Hot Chili Peppers, George Thurgood, NWA, Tupac, Aaliyah,E-40, Ice Cube, Pink Floyd, Blondie, B52's, Carly Simon, Nas, Jay Z, Celene Dion, Gloria Estafan, Nelly, Dr. Dre, Crucial Conflict, R. Kelly, Christina Aguilera,Billie Holiday and many others.

I have been writing poems, songs, and stories since I was a young child, with my first published work occurring at age eight. My recently published novel-Windy City Woes- is in the process of being converted to a screen-play. Needless to say, I was born to write.
