"Inside Connection"

“Brenner has definite Lilith Fair potential...this up-and-comer should make it to the big time post haste.” - Carol Anne Szel

“5 stars! Sara Brenner is one of those singer/songwriters who has the ability to take something as simple as a song, and transform it into a thing of beauty. This amazing vocalist pulls no punches with her eloquent and passionate allure. The songs on this album are so real and packed with feeling. Most of my readers know that for a song to get any praise at all, it must first make me feel something. Sara has that ability and does it with damn near every song. The purity and raw emotion of the lyrics on this album are at times, pure brilliance. The more I heard the album, the more I liked it. It’s inspirational value alone is enough to make me want to hear it over and over. It just goes to show that at the end of the day, it all comes down to quality of the music. Sara Brenner definitely has that end wrapped up.” - Michael Allison

“On this release, Brenner establishes herself as a strong songwriter with a deep insightful edge to her songs of life, heartbreak and love, drawing a common bond to the listener. Her lyrics exhibit the wisdom of an old soul with a youthful spirit...Brenner is an artist who should be heard now because she's only going to get better.” - Deborah Keith

Bio

Since her bring-the-house-down May showcase performance at the '02 EAT’m Conference in Las Vegas, Sara has continued to take the New York music scene by storm. Her 2001 debut CD Unsteady Ground had critics raving: “The purity and raw emotion of the lyrics on this album are, at times, pure brilliance.” Michael Allison, theglobalmuse.com. Her follow-up work is only enforcing her reputation as a insightful, provocative lyricist buoyed by moving, infectious melodies. She is currently working with legendary producer John Rollo (The Kinks, Joe Cocker) on her second release.

Sara grew up on Long Island, and her family quickly discovered her natural inclination to music. She was playing her first cover tune, “Call Me” by Blondie, at age four. Sara had a chronic case of shyness, however, and few people were aware of her musical abilities.

Her piano playing developed into a style reminiscent of another Long Islander, Billy Joel. However, her lyrical and vocal sensibility is clearly her own, and has drawn comparisons to songwriters like Sheryl Crow and Sarah McLachlan. Sara’s songs cover a diverse range of original material, from the moody “Not Happy Today” to the powerfully poignant “Worthy” to the hooky “Last One to Leave.”

Sara has quickly developed a loyal and devoted following that has packed Manhattan’s hotspots. She was chosen as a Featured Up and Coming Artist, performing in the legendary Tunnel, and was selected to perform at the 2001 AIDS Walkathon NYC in Central Park. She has received airplay on Long Island’s WLIR 92.7FM, Q104.3, WBAB 102.7, CW Post’s WCWP and Stonybrook University’s WUSB, and performed live on WUSB (Stonybrook), WCWP (CW Post) and WBRS (Brandeis) as a featured artist. Newsday’s Kevin Amorim has called her a “more mature Fiona Apple,” Good Times Magazine’s Richard Hughes has called her “[a] rising star on the Long Island music scene,” and Carol Anne Szel of the Inside Connection writes, “this up-and-comer should make it to the big time post haste.” Whatever your mood, Sara’s songwriting and musical talent is clear. Listen, and hear for yourself.
