Bio

With a mix of instruments and sounds, a new choice for the music scene in Guatemala, Saraguate starts in 2004. In their first album, "Santa Maria", the band worked a mixture of Latin and Afro-Caribean rhythms, constituting 14 songs. For this record, Saraguate used acoustic instruments (accordion, guitar and Latin percussion) with electronic beats and bass. One of the emblematic songs of this album is "Contra la Pared", where you hear dembow rhythmic elements, dancehall and cumbia, with a clear tone of lyrical hip-hop that reflects the reality of the country. "Las Luciérnagas" is a mix of ska and dembow that gives way to a little more romantic style of Saraguate. In "Extraterrestre" Salsa meets cumbia and "La Calle" integrates reggae to the album. "Santa Maria", was born in late 2007 and comes to claim the band's participation in the youth music scene in Guatemala, as a precursor to the use of cumbia, together with other Afro-Caribbean rhythms. This innovative blend that achieves Saraguate and the public that identifies with the music, is like a trigger for the atmosphere that prevails at every concert and makes it become a party.

Saraguate has been presented in the most important stages of the emerging music scene in Guatemala and El Salvador. And in late 2010, had his first European tour, playing in Basel and Lucerne in Switzerland and several towns in the Rhône-Alpes region in France.

Among Saraguate plans are to continue expanding the borders, keep experimenting with rhythms from around the world and express the voice of Guatemala.
