Sarah Téibo

Sarah Téibo is a welcome addition to the UK contemporary and urban gospel music scene. Inspired by such musical legends as Whitney Houston and Kim Burrell and with an unmistakably urban style similar to that of Jessica Reedy and Mali Music, Sarah has also carved out her own musical niche with a unique style that blends Neo Soul, R&B and Jazz with Gospel to create a soul stirring sound that is evident in her debut album  ‘Walk With Me’ set for release in Autumn 2015.

The second of four children, Sarah was born in London, England but also had the privilege of growing up in Nigeria where she started singing in choirs from the age of ten. It was from this early age that it became evident that she was one to be heard and watched. 

Her love for music was highly influenced by her parents’ taste in music and their rich vinyl collection which featured amongst others, Soul and R&B legends like Stevie Wonder and Diana Ross. She grew up listening to these phenomenal artistes and recalls memories of singing along to Marvin Gaye with her mom.

Through tumultuous experiences in her early teenage years where her family was faced with eviction and homelessness, Sarah learnt the importance of faith in God and started writing music to express both her fears and her faith. These proved a great source of strength through the most trying of times.

Having sung in Gospel choirs from her teenage years, in churches and larger venues as well as supporting renowned recording artistes like Mary Mary, Noel Robinson and Mark Beswick, in March 2015 Sarah organised and hosted her maiden ‘Free To Worship’ event. This is now an annual London-based musical experience in which Sarah takes her audience on a journey of worship in pure abandon to stretch and touch the Father’s heart through unrestricted and expressive praise and worship. Sarah takes aspects of this soulful worship experience and fuses it with her unique contemporary style characterised by poetic and unpretentious lyrics to produce a new and exciting sound which she incorporates into her first solo project.  

Sarah is a talent to watch, an artiste with a rich and soothing voice, anointed with a gift of introducing her audience to an experience that is both spiritually refreshing and calming, and of such depth and intimacy which truly sets her apart.
