Bio
A classically trained singer, Sarah taught herself piano and guitar in high school, and swapped her show tunes for rock ballads and began playing with a local band to hone her craft and fulfil her love of performing.
Sarah worked as a radio producer and presenter at a Perth commercial radio station from the age of 15 to 22 years old and during that time was influenced to an eclectic mix of music that helped to shape her into the artist that she is today. She has been a long time ambassador of the Perth local music scene, with Eskimo Joe, End of Fashion and Jebediah some of her favourite artists.
After interviewing Bernard Fanning for her radio show in 2000 and talking to him about his song writing process, Sarah went home that night and wrote her first ever song…from that point on she has been a prolific song writer with more than 25 songs penned to date.
Her debut demo ‘Heart of Mine’ is a quirky mix of four songs that showcase the depth and variety Sarah possesses as a song writer. Produced by Laurie McCallum from Perth’s Sumo Sound Studio in September 2009, this is the first taste of things to come for Sarah Monahan.
