Bio

Sarah Rose recently finished recording a new jazz demo which was recorded with some of her friends from The Bees Knees Revue. She is a dynamic stage performer and enjoys many genres including jazz, the blues, New Orleans swamp pop, vintage country / swing, soul, gospel, folk and more.

In December, 2006, Sarah played a leading role in a music film production for the Austin band, Southern Drama. She continues to be involved with SoDra and sometimes collaborates musically with her sister, violinist, Naomi Cherie. She also assists with creative direction and costume design for filmmaker, Clarissa Ysel.

Sarah worked closely with Clifford Antone from December 2005 up to his untimely recent passing in May 2006. Under his guidance, she performed as a vocalist at Sullivan’s Ringside Club, Antone’s Nightclub, The Broken Spoke and the Paramount Theatre’s 90th & State Theatre’s 70th Birthday Gala Saturday, May 20th, 2006, where she was interviewed by ME Television. Through Mr. Antone’s mentoring, Sarah had the unique opportunity to sing with musicians Alvin Crow and Austin blues greats Derek O’Brien, Riley Osborne, Roscoe Beck and Pinetop Perkins. During August through October, 2006, Sarah performed with a group of local musicians, including Mike Keller, Cory Keller, Greg Izor, J. Moeller and Nick Curran.

Sarah worked with local access program, Austin Movie Show since its inception in Fall 2004 through December, 2005. A platform for Austin area independent filmmakers and artists to promote their films and gain recognition in the film community. As an Associate Producer, Sarah gained valuable experience on what it's like to run a LIVE broadcast.

Sarah has a number of years experience in all aspects of the theater and stage as this was a primary focus through her upbringing. She held starring roles in the productions of Reckless, Talking With, Sweet Charity and The Sound of Music and performed as an off-Broadway soloist at New York’s Orpheum Theater in June 2002. Sarah studied with Peter Sklar at the Beginnings youth performance workshop in New York in 2002, and attended the Robin Selfridge Improv Theater Workshop at the historical Creighton Theater in Conroe, Texas in 2002 and 2003. Through the years, Sarah has significant training and experience in the areas of musical theater, voice and dance and has a variety of stage performances under her belt.

Sarah is a classically trained musician (violin) and vocalist and has performed in school and extra-curricular activities from a young age. In 2002, Sarah performed at New York’s Carnegie Hall. Additional training includes two years of musical theater classes with veteran stage broadway and theater performers. Sarah’s love and learning of music has brought her from her classical roots into jazz, country, soul, gospel, and the blues. Sarah is also an accomplished artist and practices in the mediums of oil painting and pencil/pen & ink drawing, as well as multimedia computer art.

She plans to hatch some new recordings this month of her own material which is mostly original folk mixed with all of her soul and blues influences.
