"Can I get a sixth star please?"

Each song of this album left me in honest wonder at the artist's voice and the messages behind some of the song's rang home. Particularly the title track. The idea of each of us as a home needing renovation because of the wear and tear of every day life is a new thought, but I loved it. My favorite song was Shelter Me, but that doesn't say much. Mine is a finger that hovers over the tracking control on my car stereo, but I never felt the need to move the disc along. -C. Shupe

Bio

Sarah has always been drawn to music. As the daughter of a military mom, Sarah found herself in many towns growing up as a child. But she always knew whatever town she was in, she would find an outlet for her music. She always found a way to participate in school choirs, church choirs, worship teams, bands, musical theatre or whatever she could find. As a self-taught musician, Sarah grew her vocal and instrumental talent over the years through many different sources. She even participated in contests such as Assemblies of God Fine Arts Festival in 1998 where she came in 3rd in her state for Female Vocal Solo. Continuing to hone her craft, in 2007 Sarah entered a local “Norton Idol” contest where she placed in the Top 10! Thinking contests and fame might be the way to go, Sarah pressed forward in her pursuit of music. “I had a few successes, but wasn’t interested in letting God be my guide. When I couldn’t make things happen the way I wanted, I began to let discouragement resonate in my head. I allowed myself to believe that I wasn’t good enough for God to use. I needed to be better. I needed to be more.” On the way home from a rejection at an audition, Sarah clearly heard God ask “Are you ready to listen to me now?” Sarah’s been listening ever since. She started songwriting and creating music from her heart about her own experiences. In 2009, Sarah released her debut project “Renovating.” Her most popular track off this project, “One Voice,” talks about this issue. “The more I look back, the more I see that my experience is not entirely unique. People of all ages, especially young people, are falling into the same trap I did. They are trying to go it alone and when they fail, they believe that they are not enough for God and their dreams are not of God. Praise the Lord, I now know that God is comfortable with my humanity, and has plans and dreams for me. Now I have to share that with other people.” Sharing her ministry and talents with people is one of Sarah’s favorite things to do, whether in a church setting or competing in contests like the 2010 Norton Idol contest where she placed 2nd, Sarah’s dream is to always share her heart and her passion for God with others. Sarah’s vision is to impact the way people see themselves in Christ; to show them their value in God’s eyes; and to let them hear that there is a God who cares about their every dream, and every breath. Sarah shares this message wherever and whenever she can. Whether she is singing a solo concert or leading worship with her band, theGive, Sarah strives to deliver the message that God loves us right where we are and cares about our hopes and dreams.
