Lyrics

Down My Back

Written By: Sarah Saunders

I’m just stirring you up again
To drown the silence I can’t stand
Seeking advice from the antichrist
To get the feeling back in my hands
Don’t stand to close to the window
Or the boy down the street might see
If I hide all the scars with make up
Maybe he won’t yell at me

You said "As I’m lying in your arms
And we watch the rain together
Such contentment fills my heart
I could lay like this forever
There’s no such thing as perfect
But this just feels so right
Nowhere else I’d rather be
Than here with you tonight"

But didn’t you feel funny
When you told me you loved me
And you scratched your nails down my back
You think I won’t remember
How you kept me on that tether
And you know you never meant any of that

The coffee cup looks lonely
As I’ll trip over my mess
Alice thinks that’ll bruise again
So easy, so effortless

Frozen in your painful grasp
Turning the sky a colourful grey
There’s nothing left but matches here
This might be a dangerous game

But didn’t you feel funny
When you told me you loved me
And you scratched your nails down my back
You think I won’t remember
How you kept me on that tether
And you know you never meant any of that

I wish I could scratch your eyes out
So that you can’t see my face
The ashtray’s filled with a bitter scent
Is that what I taste?
I’m cutting out pieces of you again
It’s not so hard over time
'Cos I can forget you happened
But you’ll remember the crime

ONLY HUMAN

Written By: Sarah Saunders

ONLY HUMAN

Lost in the thoughts through your head that day,
You just smiled and said “I don’t want to be in your way”
If everything is meant to be
What have I got to gain?
Even in the final moment
They couldn’t sing your praise.

Chorus;
Choking on words I’ll never get to say -
No one really knew you
Or wanted to share your pain;
This life gets lonely when everybody wants something.

Trying to suppress all of my regrets;
You know I’ll never forget but I can’t help feeling helpless
You can’t rewind reality once the tape’s unrolled
So unworthy of your love,
I’m only human after all.

Chorus;
Choking on words I’ll never get to say -
No one really knew you
And never wanted to share your pain;
This life gets lonely when everybody wants something.

Bridge;
I’ve tried so hard to justify the decisions that you made,
All you needed was time but who knew what time would bring?
But I just wanna be happy,
Just wanna be happy, for you.

Choking on words I’ll never get to say
No one really knew you
Or wanted to share your pain;
This life gets so lonely when everybody wants something.
All you needed was time,
But who knew what time would bring.

Chorus – (Repeat);
Choking on words I’ll never get to say
No one really knew you
And never wanted to share your pain;
This life gets lonely when everybody wants something.
