"New EP Appeals To A Range Of Genres"

"Based out of Westchester, N.Y., Sarah's Redemption is the next little known band to watch. Their EP "The Dreamer's Gene," shows off their ability to write emotional songs that are both relatable and appealing to a wide variety of music fans. Though emo at times, their music encompasses of the genres of punk, alternative and power-pop. It's a genuinely enjoyable listen and offers a range of sounds and feelings.

The album has some real standout songs that listeners will find themselves singing along to before the tracks even finish. One song in particular, "All or Nothing," could without a doubt be their hit single. The song is radio-friendly and radio-ready. It could premiere to the larger public tomorrow and teenagers would know all the words and be flocking to download it within days. "All or Nothing" has a really catchy upbeat rhythm and that fun pop/punk sound that appeals to a wide audience. Another song with serious potential is the album's namesake, "The Dreamer's Gene." The chorus will be stuck in your head all day after one listen, particularly the determined line, "Cause I'd rather die than lose," which is almost a of motto for this group who is working so hard to make it.

The album also takes a slower, more haunting tone with songs such as "Victory Among Strangers." The track opens with light female background vocals but eases into the passionate yet tortured voice of lead singer John Black. The song is about being alone and being with someone solely for that reason. It's about when your heart gets tangled between the casual and the deeper emotions and the tone of Black's voice is utterly heartbreaking and believable.

Sarah's Redemption is set to take the music world by storm-so get ahead of the game and give them a listen. Their album, along with other songs and information about the band, can be found at or" - Lisa DiCarlucci - The Hofstra Chronicle (May 7, 2009)
