Sarah Tancer is.....Vocalist, Songwriter, Actor, Physical Theatre Artist, Voice over Artist, Costumer, Improviser...Northern California girl turned New Yorker. Genetically inspired by her opera singer grandmother, Sarah started singing and playing the piano when she was a wee lass. In her teens she began training in classical, jazz and standard repertoire, going on to be a featured California jazz soloist and to perform at Carnegie Hall. Her great fascination however was with the craft of song, and the great masters of phrase and melody like Porter and Gershwin, which started a lifelong obsession with the art of giving voice to the stories of the human condition. With that mission in tow, Sarah moved to New York to study classical theatre at NYU and the Stella Adler Conservatory. As a member of the Adler company, she co-developed/choreographed and composed a vocal score theatre piece, 'Where Ravens Rule' which received the Edinburgh Fringe First Award. She went on to have a four year residency with dance theatre company 'Collision Theory'. On hiatus from the stage, Sarah returned to her music with a strong conviction to infuse her writing with the movement, depth and layering she has learned from her theatrical experience. Her aim is to deliver universal sentiments with a unique and fluid style, using her ability to characterize and shapeshift to deliver distinctive color to all of her projects. Sarah has recently forayed into the world of electronic and house music. Her new single 'Secret' with producer the Scumfrog has just been released and getting a lot of airtime on Sirius Radio. She has also been played on Pete Tongs Essential Mix on BBC Radio 1 and on Roger Sanchez' radio show 'Release Yourself'. Sarah's single "I've got Something for You" on Subliminal Records is number 3 on the charts in Nocturnal magazine.
